An expungement motion needs to be filed with the court, it is then ruled on by the appointed Judge. If the expungement is granted NOTHING will show regarding that specific case.
There is no automatic expungement, such as when a plea is made. Sometimes you will see the term "Nolle Prosequi" which means the prosecution does not have enough evidence to procede at this time. Nolle's are usually made prior to a grand jury indictment. Should more evidence become available the charge can then be re-opened on the Nolled case.

I just got home from work (third shifter) after having stewed about this case all night. I was coming up the driveway so fast that the car slid and an entire cup of coffee flew into the console. Crap!
Can someone give up information in exchange for an expungement? Do the charges truly disappear forever? If so, are old charges invisible even to LE?
