I work with juvenile offenders. Most are affiliated with one gang or another. I feel for the kids I work with. And it took some adjusting on my part to gain their respect. Once that got cleared up, I found many, many of them in need of a fucking break. Someone to listen to them without judgment. I have been doing this for about 5 years now. Some have graduated to adult detention and more than a few of them are locked up for murder and sensless.

And it is such a loss of our youth, their talent, their input...it really is sad!

as the mother of 16 year old twins-- I have to say it still is how u raise them ! I am one step ahead of them and always say I was a kid once and know what kids do. But in this day and age , things are much different . The school where my twins go to last fall had a couple kids roaming the halls with guns and bullet proof vests. You never know what can happen or influence our youth - even when they are doing what thay are supposed to be doing.
