I don't know the answer but I suspect it's both nature & nurture. There's a lot wrong with our culture. I doubt that some indian tribe in south America has all of the narcissists, sociopaths/psychopaths, and other misfits that modern society does. The native Americans of two hundred years ago would have killed anyone in the tribe who presented like that. It was matter of self preservation for the tribe, and self respect.
