My chief complaint about the statement from whoever the guy was with LE was that it doesn't tell us anything. I don't think he was blaming Johnny & Lisa for getting murdered.
I don't need anyone to sugar coat anything or be PC. If we were talking about hookers getting murdered by a serial killer we wouldn't flinch if LE said something like, "Her lifestyle got her killed". That's not blaming the victim, it's taking the big picture into account.
I don't know what the sentiment is with the Ohio LE agencies. I suspect that the sheriff's dept isn't experienced enough to handle something like this. TPD, I'm sure, has stacks of cases they have to work on and this wasn't in Toledo. The FBI, whatever their involvement, probably isn't that into it. I also don't see where they would have any jurisdiction. I don't know but I would guess that it's big cities that have the more experienced homicide detectives with the most resources.
Once again, I'm not feeling too hopeful.
