I've always found it very odd that the wires being cut did not immediately summon the police. It doesn't even make a little bit of sense to me. If that's truly the case then everyone who has that system installed in their homes should be made aware that it's utterly worthless, it won't protect anyone & here is your proof.

Exactly. I never saw the logic in that. Most alarm systems (including mine) require a separate phone line and connection that will dial out to emergency if anything goes wrong with it.

maybe their phone was bundled through the tv cable and the perps cut the phone line. or vice versa. maybe deactivated means not turned armed. if disarmed and noone hit the panic button then it would have done nothing. maybe the perps cut the cableline, and when they turned on the tv loud to drown out any noise they were without tv stations and had to put in a dvd to drown out the noise. hence the cops heard the tv on at 1am, but not on the second visit. and also why the cops took a single dvd from the house. who knows though. I'm just doing bullshit speculation. I'm sure people who know all the evidence are saying "wrong, wrong, wrong!" right now.

I'm not sure who their alarm company is but the reason I referenced mine earlier is because they SPECIFICALLY require (in addition to what ever other lines you have) a SEPARATE regular old land line. No VoIP or bundled lines from the cable company as they usually depend on power and internet connection.
