family is true) Something tells me that if I knew who the DNA
belonged to, I would not tell any family member.....

LOL you just said in your post that if you knew who the DNA belonged to you wouldn't share it with the family. I asked you why would you share it if you knew?

I think "I" meant the investigator. Like if the investigation came up with a hit on DNA the family may not be told. Only if an arrest was imminent.
