If you think about it, that's pretty much what the Sgt made it sound like, with "the perps have probably left the area" , etc..... leaving it too cut & dry. You have to remember, the Sgt knows how the crime scene looked, knows what all the interviews consisted of, etc ... There's a reason he stated everything he stated to those residents, & I don't think it was ONLY to make them feel safe. jmo
What's said and how it's said in Public statements by LE is often used to further the resolution of the case. I think we are second guessing LE here and don't know what tact they are taking. Time will tell.
