Alot of alarm systems has an additional pad that can be installed in a bedroom. Also there is a remote control that is on a keychain, It is possible that they had an extra pad in there bedroom with a panic on it or maybe Lisa had it on her keychain which could have been upstairs. There is also a code that can be punched in incase perps force you to put your code in. It stops the alarm on the inside but sends the silent panic alarm to the company. Alarms have a back up battery I think. In case of power outage etc... My parents have one and this is what I know about them
