Part ON, Part OFF TOPIC.
A former employee's son (age 25 - I will call him Blue) (month ago) got out of
prison in Ohio...called me on his way home from prison from Hooter's, so excited he
was eating with a fork for the first time in five years. He was in there for
selling a play station to some man and pulling a gun on him for his money.
(no play station). FIVE YEARS. I finally found out that much of the time was
because he had a gun, but there was NO BREAK for him because the cops
knew he had accomplices and he would not give up their names. These
birds kept him in money while he was in prison. Anyway, the week before
he came home, one of the accomplices was shot by a cop and paralyzed for life.
He has called me again a couple times. The conversations have been unsettling.
I was in SHOCK at the lack of language skills this young man now has. He has
no real ability to hold a conversation and no matter what I said to him, he
says, 'Yeaaaaha' in this grovely voice. Does anyone have any experience with
recently released prisoners and the stages they go through? He says he is
"Chillin' - hasn't looked for a job 'cause i ain't gonna git one anyway yeaaha.'
It is obvious they want me to take him under my wing as I am hundreds
of miles away and it would get him away from his former friends. I am no
longer in a position to offer jobs, however.
This made me think of Johnny, and how quickly he got out of jail, and how
in the world does the x girlfriend of the X, get house arrest for a gun? It
is baffling me. My former employee's kid had no record.
