Lucas County judges typically don't grant change of venue. The last 6yrs there have been two high profile cases where there probably should have been. 1) Tom Noe. Central figure in Ohio Coingate scandal that brought down Gov. Bob Taft and the Ohio GOP. GOP lost all but one statewide elected office in 2006 due to his stealing money from a state fund. Serving 18yrs in Hocking Correctional Facility. 2) Father Gerald Robinson. Priest who was convicted of murdering Sister Margaret Ann Pahl. Also in Hocking! Serving a 15-life sentence. Judge Tom Osowik ironically was the judge in both of these cases. Said to the prosecution and defense team that they should try and seat a jury.
Doubt they win that change of venue.
Robinson and Noe probably should have been granted a change of venue IMO. The Blade really damaged them and made it almost impossible for them to get a fair trial.
