But why smoke it outside?
Were they aware of the house rules that you couldn't smoke inside? And even so...would burglars/murderers who would ransack a house and kill its inhabitants decide to respectfully smoke outdoors?
Did they smoke on the way in for courage? Or on the way out?
Are smokers so well trained not to smoke inside that they automatically follow such rules?
Or were they the lookouts -- standing watch in the garage while the murders went on inside?
It has been a bit confusing, but it seems that the cigarette butt was found inside the home? In the kitchen doorway? Not the garage?
