Judge: convicted murder Williams "barbaric"
TOLEDO, Ohio -
Samuel Williams was sentenced today for the murders of Johnny Clarke and Lisa Straub in 2011.
The couple was found in Springfield Township with plastic bags over their heads and their hands bound with tape.
Lucas County Common Pleas judge Dean Mandros sentenced Williams to two consecutive life terms in prison without parole.
But before the sentencing, Judge Mandros addressed Williams and didn't mince words.
"What took place in that house was barbaric to the extreme. At a minimum, you should be forgotten, and it has been said that to be forgotten is a fate worse than death. Whatever quality that separates human beings from other forms of life, you just don't possess."
Judge Mandros also sentenced Williams to 11 years each for two counts of kidnapping and one count of aggravated burglary.
