Bumped for those of you who want to debate the power of prayer.
Two arguments come to mind:
First, either God is omnipotent or he is not. If so, how can we change his minds via a prayer?
I can't image God thinking to himself, "Well, I wasn't going to allow the Chargers to win this Sunday but your prayer, Patrick, changed my mind".
Or, "I was going to take your father's life with cancer but now that you've provided a prayer circle via your church, I will spare his life."
As if our prayers can change God's mind and without our prayers he would handle things differently.
Secondly, and equally as sadly, if prayer truly worked the only answers to your prayers are "YES" or "NO", or "MAYBE".
You could pray to a gallon of milk (google that for a better understanding) and receive exactly the same results.
There is no answer to prayer because there is no personal God.
