is in jail where she belongs. no bail.

WTVD
DURHAM, NC (WTVD) -- Authorities say former Duke Lacrosse accuser Crystal Mangum was arrested overnight Sunday for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend in the chest.

Authorities say around 3 a.m., officers responded to a stabbing at a home in the 3000 block of Century Oaks Drive.

When police arrived, they found a 46-year-old man stabbed in the chest.

The man suffered serious injuries and was taken to Duke University Hospital for treatment.

Investigators say the victim is Mangum's boyfriend and say they believe the stabbing occurred during an argument.

Mangum, 32, was later arrested at a nearby apartment and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

She is being held at the Durham County Jail under no bond.

Durham Police had no further comment on the arrest Sunday.

Mangum made national headlines in March 2006, when the then NC Central student and exotic dancer claimed three Duke Lacrosse players sexually assaulted her during a performance at a team party inside a house near Duke's campus.

A year later, Attorney General Roy Cooper dropped all charges saying there was no credible evidence and that the three former players were victims of a tragic rush to accuse.

Former D.A. Mike Nifong was later disbarred and was accused of withholding DNA evidence that would have cleared the players.

Mangum went into hiding, then graduated from NCCU in 2008 with a degree in police psychology. Later that year she released a memoir, "The Last Dance for Grace: The Crystal Mangum Story".

Then last year, Mangum was arrested and charged with attempted murder, arson and child abuse after a domestic dispute with her ex-boyfriend - a different man than the person involved in the incident Sunday.

In December, the jury found Mangum guilty of child abuse, but they couldn't agree on a first-degree felony arson charge, which could have landed Mangum in jail for seven years.

Mangum will make her first court appearance on the latest assault charges on Monday.

edit to add: (i thought she had NO bond.)
District Court Judge Nancy Gordon lowered Mangum's bond from $500,000 to $300,000 this morning and told her to have no contact with boyfriend R.D. Wilson.

"Stay away from him. Don't text him. Don't Facebook him. Don't have anyone else do it on your behalf," she said.

Former City Councilwoman Jackie Wagstaff and other Mangum supporters were in the tiny courtroom at the Durham County jail Monday morning. Wagstaff questioned the high bond.

"She's been through two traumatic experience, and she hasn't left Durham yet," Wagstaff said. "If she was a flight risk she would have been gone by now."

Asked the whereabouts of Mangum's three children, Wagstaff said only that they're safe.

RALEIGH, N.C. – Three former Duke lacrosse players falsely accused of rape five years ago can pursue a lawsuit against the ex-county prosecutor and police investigators who handled their case, a federal judge in North Carolina ruled Thursday.

U.S. District Judge James Beaty said in his decision that the players can pursue claims such as malicious prosecution, concealment of evidence and fabrication of false evidence. He dismissed several other accusations, such as intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Richard Emery, an attorney for one of the former players, Reade Seligmann, said they are prepared to vigorously pursue the case.

"The opinion is what I would call, overall, a ringing success for the boys," Emery said. "We're glad that we're moving ahead with the case."

An attorney for former District Attorney Mike Nifong and a spokeswoman for the Durham Police Department didn't immediately return calls seeking comment.

asshole Former D.A. Mike Nifong was later disbarred and was accused of withholding DNA evidence that would have cleared the players.

pig. any guy goes with her deserves a disease. maybe not a knife in the gut, but a dripping dick for sure.

Durham, N.C. — For the second time in 14 months, the Durham woman who falsely accused three Duke University lacrosse players of rape has been charged with assaulting a man with whom she was living.

Crystal Mangum, 32, was charged Sunday with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury. A judge set a $300,000 bond for her on Monday.

Police said Mangum stabbed Reginald Daye, 46, in the torso with a kitchen knife during a dispute at 3507 Century Oaks Drive early Sunday.

Daye was taken to Duke University Hospital to be treated for serious injuries, and Mangum was arrested in a nearby apartment.

His condition was unknown Monday.

A man who said he was Daye's nephew called 911 to report the stabbing, saying it occurred while Daye and his girlfriend were arguing about rent money. The caller said police were called earlier while the couple argued, but the stabbing occurred after the officers left.

When asked about the girlfriend's identity, the caller said, "It's Crystal Mangum. THE Crystal Mangum."

He then added, "I told him she was trouble from the beginning."

I don't think I could've withstood the venom that was leveled against the team members at the time of the accusations. Many tried and sentenced those young men even before a trial. Though I read it some time ago, I remember this book as being a stunning account of what happened: Until Proven Innocent: Political Correctness and the Shameful Injustices of the Duke Lacrosse Rape Case by Stuart Taylor Jr and KC Johnson.

I wondered if there were any legal ramifications for Mangum's accusations. In searching, I came across this February 2010 case involving Mangum and a different boyfriend, Milton Walker.

Mangum, 31, known as the accuser in the Duke lacrosse case, was arrested after police say she set her apartment on fire and tried to kill her boyfriend around midnight Wednesday while her three young children and two Durham police officers were in the home. "Mangum, 31, known as the accuser in the Duke lacrosse case, was arrested after police say she set her apartment on fire and tried to kill her boyfriend around midnight Wednesday while her three young children and two Durham police officers were in the home.

Screaming was heard in the background as a 911 operator took an emergency call from Mangum's 9-year-old daughter at 11:55 p.m., according to a copy of the recording.

"This is an emergency. I'm at 2220 Lincoln Street," the little girl said. "Please hurry. My mom is going to die."

At the time of the article, Mangum's children were aged 10, 9 and 3 years old.

...and she's now been tried & convicted of murder. She'll spend a good long time in the slammer, honey, right where you said she belonged all along.

A woman who falsely accused three Duke University lacrosse players of raping her has been found guilty of murder in the 2011 stabbing of her boyfriend.

Crystal Mangum was convicted of second-degree murder for stabbing her boyfriend in the chest during a fight in April 2011. He died 10 days later. She faces up to 18 years in prison.
