Well, if the story's correct and Sara did tell the babysitter she was spending the night at her mother's, I'd say that lets the husband off the hook (unless he and the babysitter are in cahoots). So why did Sara say she was going to go to her mother's if it wasn't true? She took off somewhere with Max? She's having an affair with someone (doesn't seem likely that she'd take Max along)? She's depressed (I hope to God she doesn't harm her son).
