well when they first saw me in a cop uniform 
they made the sign of the cross to ward off evil. 
then said "hide your dope". 
but actually i was the baseball/basketball/football team mom all through little league and HS and the kids liked me a lot. i had pool parties at my house for them (and took away their car keys) when they were HS seniors. i would take them to cool things like surfing all day beach picnics and seeing a shuttle launch at night at Cape Canaveral. none of them ever forgot THAT! i loved them all and they knew it.
i still have "my" adult kids call and email me and call me "mom".
