My friend who visited from Oregon last week said the same thing, in all seriousness. He's a chef. According to his counting/calculations (yeah, he counts that shit when he rides public transpo), 6 out of every 10 people in Portland is obese. He's skinny as a rail, so I can't vouch for his definition of "obese". While he was here, he was counting obese people in SF. 3 out of 10. I never notice.
Maybe the US should follow the lead of some European countries that have implemented exorbitant tax on foods with trans fat?
