The last act of Matt Quinn, pictured second from left, was to save his lover's life by using his body to shield her as James Holmes opened fire in the late-night showing of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora Colorado killing him and eleven others. His is just one of the tragic stories to emerge from the massacre, which began when the 24-year-old PhD student tossed a gas canister into the theatre and began firing . Also confirmed dead are: (left to right) Rebecca Wingo, Micayla Medek, Jon Blunk, AJ Boik, Alex Sullivan, John Thomas Larimer and Jessica Ghavi
