Thankfully these situations are pretty rare. Probably more important to figure out how to ID and treat these kinds of nutjobs before they act out their fantasies than to take away the guns. But all that ammo, no red flags? I find that hard to believe that the FBI or ATF were not aware of this stockpiling. I wonder why they just sat on it?
