But, yeah, I would still be surprised if there were 70,000 Americans living in Yemen right now.
Why? Because that would mean that Yemen, a country which has been very unstable and ranked among the most dangerous for Americans for several years, is among the top 10 countries in the world for American diaspora. It would mean that Yemen hosts more American residents than are estimated to reside in Italy, Hong Kong, China, India, Brazil, the Bahamas... It would mean that Americans make up about 25% of Yemen's total immigrant population. It's hard for me to believe. But, there's no formal source to confirm or deny it, so it could be true.
