This case has been of particular interest in my family since before I was born. Very sad. Probably the most notorious and widely talked about unsolved case for native Angelenos.
Personally, I think that Dr. George Hodel is the most likely suspect, due to the precision required to sever Betty's torso so cleanly, and the fact that he was a well-connected, influential and deeply twisted "player" back in 47. The crime scene photos break my heart.
Some theorists believe that whoever killed Betty may have killed before and become more brazen; working up to his finale with Betty - leaving her body carefully posed for public display/adulation.
