L.A. and the LAPD are far down the list of most dangerous places/orgs in the world or in the U.S., in terms of violent crime.
Not every snippet you see in the news that takes place in a particular county or city applies generally to the whole of the region.
Just to be safe though, don't dare visit New York City, San Francisco, Chicago, New Orleans, Washington D.C....without a hand grenade in your bulletproof backpack, CN!
Wait...upon reflection, I can see how the major counties/cities of the U.S. would certainly be way too dangerous for a cream puff like you altogether, though they're visited by retirees and school children from all over the world on a daily basis.
Safest best for you is probably to hole up at home, curled up in fear, shooting blanks at disaster victims from behind a computer screen.
