THE VERDICTS

--Guilty of Culpable Homicide (Manslaughter)
--Guilty of Discharging a Firearm in a Public Place (one of the three firearms charges; she acquitted him of the other two)
The judge granted Pistorius bail until his sentencing on Oct. 13th.
Sentencing Possibilities:
--Up to 15 years for Culpable Homicide
--Up to 5 years for the gun conviction (it could be on top of the homicide sentence or served concurrently)
IMO, Judge Masipa saw a lot of what the defense threw out there as "making sense"; moreso than I did at least. But, the burden of proof was on the prosecution and it was a hard case to try when the only person who could really disprove what Pistorius claims happened is the dead victim.
Really hoping that he gets the 15 year max for culpable homicide, but it's up to the judge and I don't get the sense, based on the rationale she used when explaining her verdicts, that he will get anywhere near 15 years for the homicide or 5 years for the gun conviction. We'll find out in a month.
