Did you hear him say that he doesn't think he deserves the reward money and that it should go to the girls? That was cool. He also said that if he'd known what was going on in that house, he'd be in jail for triple homicide, you know what I mean, bro?! He really is amusing

I think Ramsey will end up with some reward money. The girls are probably gonna be more than okay financially if the investigation uncovers police negligence or incompetence. The state of California settled with Jaycee Dugard for $20 million; this one might go the same route. Her book was a best-seller too and she's started a foundation for victims of abduction. Hoping they'll be able to assist Michelle, Amanda and Gina.

I saw her speak at a function the other night, the same night the girls were found. She looked beautiful, she was poised & articulate, she seemed so well adjusted. She's turning her horrible ordeal into something wonderful to help others.

I had mixed feeling about suing the broke state when she'd already had a sizable advance for the book. After suing the state (for failure to adequately supervise her ex-con abductor), she also filed a suit against the federal government for the parolee policies. I don't know what became of that; it kinda fell off the map and she wasn't expected to succeed there.

IDK. I think there should be financial compensation, I just don't know how much is too much. I'm happy for Jaycee and don't begrudge her all of the money; nothing can make up for what she lost. But, I was hoping that such a large settlement would send a message to LE nationwide and motivate a review of policies and improvement in protocols related to house-visits and reports of weird goings-on. I don't think that hope is gonna transform into a reality though.

Anyway, I agree with your post upthread about the Clevleand women needing lawyers and good representation. I bet they have top-notch pros clamoring to get at them as we speak. I think Jaycee's foundation is a good thing and her organization will likely step in and help the Cleveland women navigate the legal process as well.

I've been wondering a lot about her. Her education level, I know somewhere it said Amanda had been teaching her, but was she provided supplies and what not. I can't imagine what she's thinking during all of this. She probably had no idea anything was even wrong.

I actually just read a book called Room by Emma Donoghue that was very similar to this. The woman was kidnapped and she was kept in a shed in the backyard. She had a son and the book is from the view of the son. He was 5 and they escaped. He hated it. He wanted to go back to the Room. I wonder if the little girl is having these feelings.

The 32-year-old, who vanished in 2002, was found at a Cleveland home on Monday with two other women and a six-year-old girl - but she has not yet contacted her mother for a reunion.
The first details about Michelle are emerging as images of her have finally been released. They show her as a teenager before she was kidnapped - at a time when she endured an often troubled relationship with her family.
She had given birth to a son who was later taken into the custody of child services, and authorities suggested to her mother that she may have fled following the upset from the ordeal.

Choked up here. Her family and neighbors are so thrilled to have her home; chanting, balloons, tears... 9 years in captvity; she's 23 and her loved ones haven't seen her since she was 14 years old. Wishing her as much peace as possible.

I was watching as well. I wonder what they do first. I also wonder how hard it is on Gina being that the home she returned to isn't the home she left.

I agree. It makes me sad to think that after being trapped in that house for all those years, even now if they just want to step out in the sun, they have to worry about all the people out there. I'd hope that someone would send them away somewhere secluded for at least a few days.
