Should abortions be legal? Yes.

Should they be allowed as a form of retroactive contraception? NO!

Shut the fuck up about the damned "let's reverse Roe vs Wade" shit already. Fucking short sighted morons refuse to see that abortions were being performed long before Roe vs Wade legalized them. I dare say they would still go on if it were reversed so.....STFU!

Ok pro lifers......if you really want to reduce or even maybe stop abortions then put up or shut up. For example, simplify the adoption process so that unwanted kids aren't 5 or 6 before the would be adoptive parents finally "pass muster".

Guess that would be too fucking easy.

But as well, if some dumbass twat has 2 abortions for retro contraceptive reasons she should be involuntarily sterilized just because stupid people shouldn't be allowed to breed.

Hell, I believe in 'post partum' abortions....

(that was a joke, assholes)

It's a complicated issue when it comes down to 'how many is too many'. ANY abortion beyond the 'Morning After Pill' type of thing, is sad and usually both physically and psychologically damaging to a certain degree, and it SHOULD be. Unwanted pregnancies (obviously except in the case of rape) are fairly easy to prevent, although even when people are 'careful', birth protection can and does fail.

The only way to absolutely be sure you won't get pregnant, is to simply not have sex. Yeah, that's a big winner. People don't want to go that route and who can blame them? Sex can be wonderful with the right person. Event the 'Morning After Pill' is still not 100% effective, and it wouldn't be practical to take them every day after a person has sex (for those who are sexually active on a very regular basis).

So the bottom line is that in any situation where people are having sex, there ARE going to be unwanted pregnancies. The next question is how to deal with them.

'Adoption' is not a viable option for most women with an 'unwanted' pregnancy. Most women who carry their baby to term are not going to want to give it up after doing so, understandably. That WOULD be a good thing, except often the reasons for a pregnancy being 'unwanted' are pretty good ones, so the excitement of having a newborn wear off pretty quickly and the baby ends up being neglected or abused, sometimes because the parent(s) are irresponsible, sometimes simply because they don't have the necessary resources to care for a baby.

I would far rather see a woman be 'responsible' and have an abortion, than see babies born into bad home situations, only to grow up and have a negative impact on society as a whole. Of course, one 'problem', is that responsible intelligent women are far more likely to be careful about birth control, or have an abortion if they need it, and limit the number of children they bring into the world, while they are probably the ones who SHOULD be adding to our gene pool. Instead, the idiots of the world keep reproducing like guppies.

So, back to the question of 'how many is too many'? Even that is difficult to determine. For example, if a woman has two abortions (or more) within a few months, it's a problem of some type. If a woman has two abortions in her lifetime, it's not as significant. In the case of 'crack whores' (and their equivalents), sterilization should certainly come into play, even mandatory sterilization, after a couple of pregnancies, whether they ever have an abortion or not.

Saying that abortion should not be used as a form of 'birth control' is not very helpful, because when you come down to it, abortion is ALWAYS a form of birth control. As with pretty much anything else in our society, some people abuse it, while most don't. The choice should be there, but the process could be improved.
