Willow Long missing, Illinois
#21
At least they have removed Willow's 3 year old brother from the home during the investigation.

Willow will be buried on Monday, 16 Sep. In the obit, the uncle is not mentioned as surviving her.

And more

Dirty fuck may have sexually assaulted Willow, it's all speculation but I wondered why he would have killed her. No way am I believing Willow scratched his hand and set him off. I can't believe that he would use "ending her suffering" as a defense. It shows how he felt about Willow (like she wasn't human, we put animals out of their misery.) All IMO of course.

and still more

Willow's death was brutal. Defensive hand wounds show that she tried to fight for her life as she was being stabbed to death by a family member.

IMO, her mother's actions and story don't add up. I'm suspicious that she was at least trying to cover for her daughter's killer and, at worst, might have been directly involved.

Really getting the feeling that this story/family is only going to look even creepier as details emerge.

Anyway, very glad to hear that the 3 year old brother has been removed from the home, Cheyne.

I'm not usually one of those guys wishing for jailhouse justice but if there is a guy who deserves it it's this scumbag. Looks more and more like a case of attempted kiddy fiddling and murder, covered up by "mom".

UPDATE: MOTHER CHARGED WITH OBSTRUCTION

Snip:

Ciara DeRyke, 26, appeared in court Tuesday to face charges of obstructing a peace officer. She is accused of lying to authorities when she said she saw her daughter watching television the morning of Sept. 8, though authorities believe Long was stabbed to death hours earlier, reports the Associated Press.

Ciara DeRyke told investigators she took a nap and when she awoke, the girl was gone.

Long was reported missing Sept. 8, and her body was found the following day near a river, wrapped in garbage bags and sealed with duct tape.

"Because of her not telling the truth up front, we weren't able to find Willow as soon as we could have," Kibler said, the AP reports.

Though Kibler said he believes DeRyke lied about seeing her daughter, he also said she didn’t participate in the killing or efforts to conceal it.

Prosecutors contend that mom lied to "make herself look like a better parent". Ciara DeRyke faces a year in prison if convicted of obstruction.

Ciara's brother, Justin, is scheduled to be tried for Willow's murder in February 2014.

I wonder if the prosecutor is holding back information about anything. I see the trial is scheduled for February, so I guess we'll know more then.

I know prosecutors do that so as not to taint the jury pool and give them further need to appeal the conviction.

Seems we'll likely never know exactly what happened to Willow and why, beyond her uncle stabbing her to death.

PLEAS AND SENTENCING

The Uncle, Justin DeRyke ^, pleaded guilty to first degree murder today. All other related charges were dropped in exchange for the plea. He was sentenced to life in prison.

Willow's mom, Ciara DeRyke ^, pleaded guilty to obstruction (for lying to police about when she last saw her daughter) in January. She was sentenced to 4 months in jail, followed by 8 months probation.

At least Justin DeRyke will never be able to hurt or kill another innocent person; he will not have the possibility of parole.
