. . . . . . . . . with such a major royal scerw up as this!

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A 9-year-old Minneapolis boy was able to get through security and onto a plane at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport without a ticket, an airport spokesman said Sunday.

Security officials screened the boy at airport shortly after 10:30 a.m. Thursday, The boy then boarded a Delta flight that left for Las Vegas at 11:15 a.m. How did they screen him "without him having a ticket?

The flight crew became suspicious and contacted and transferred the boy over to child protection services.

Video also shows the boy at the airport Wednesday. He grabbed a bag from the carousel and ordered lunch at a restaurant outside of the security checkpoints.
He ate and then told the server he had to use the bathroom, left the bag and never returned to pay. The owner of the bag was identified, and the bag was returned to him. What a ballsy "9" year old kid!

Delta and the Transportation Security Agency said in separate statements that they were investigating. Yeah, what the hell else did those inept jackasses let get through!!!

The boy was expected to return to the Twin Cities Sunday.

I've been through the Minneapolis Airport, granted, it is a hustling, bustling and sprawling Airport, but "security" must be maintained at all costs!!

...but it's not, not at any airport in the United States. Your security is only as good as those who enforce it. Good luck with that.

I'd be interested to know more about this 9 year old.

Does he have parents he lives with? Other relatives? Is there more to this? Was he instructed by adults to do what he did in order to test security? A trial run of sorts?

Hopefully all that questioning is taking place now.

Interesting questions MS. I was wondering things about how he got there, and had no apparent adult supervision. Seems too thought out for a 9 year old. I mean, my grandson is 9, and of course to me and his parents he is brilliant, but I do not think he could pull this off.

There's really only two people that fucked up. At the ticket counter, they only check the i.d.'s of the adults when they're getting their boarding passes (the kid would have bypassed that whole process anyway). The TSA agent that checks your boarding pass before you enter security fucked up and the person who let him on the plane without a boarding pass fucked up.

Hogan said security footage showed the 9-year-old “waited until the person who was at the gate was busy, and that’s when he got on the plane.”

The TSA released a statement that said, “The child was screened along with all other passengers to ensure that he was not a threat to the aircraft."

A source close to the investigation told NBC News that the boy told a flight attendant that his parents were sitting in the back of the plane, but Hogan said the flight crew became suspicious at some point during the flight when they realized the boy “wasn’t on the roster” of children travelling alone.

When the plane landed, Hogan said, “The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police and Child Protective Services there took the child into custody and were arranging his return to Minneapolis.” As of Sunday, the boy remained in Las Vegas in Child Protective Services, according to the source.

The boy’s mother said she thought he was at a friend’s house and reported him missing, according to the source. Hogan said he was not listed as a runaway until after he had managed to travel to a different state.

The boy has behavioral problems and was recently suspended from school, the source said. Police at the airport were familiar with the 9-year-old because he had caused problems there before, the source added.

In fact, Hogan said security
footage and airport staff reports indicated the boy made an unaccompanied trip to the airport the day before his solo flight.

On both days, he arrived at the airport on light rail transit, said Hogan. On Wednesday, he visited baggage claim, took a bag that did not belong to him and had a bite to eat at a pre-security airport restaurant. He then told restaurant staff that he needed to use the bathroom and left the bag with them but did not return, Hogan said.

That's pretty impressive for a 9 year old, I wonder what he's going to do as an adult. It reminded me of the movie Catch Me If You Can, A true story about Frank Abagnale Jr., who, before his 19th birthday, successfully conned millions of dollars' worth of checks as a Pan Am pilot, doctor, and legal prosecutor.

I tried to find out for you but the "why" isn't being reported but, I did find out he stole a car a couple weeks ago. He's quite independent & ingenious.

A 9-year-old boy who passed through security at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and caught a flight to Las Vegas without a ticket had previously gained entry to a water park without a ticket and stolen a car, a local newspaper reported on Tuesday.

The boy is the son of a woman who works at the airport and county child-protection staff have reviewed his family situation four times since December.

The boy had a history of taking the light rail without his parents to a suburb near the airport, where he would blend in with a large family to get into a water park.
