MARDI GRAS
#1

Have any of you ever experienced it? I'd be interested in reading about it if you have. If I had a bucket list, experiencing a traditional Mardis Gras in New Orleans would be on it.

I'd like a shit ton of beads to have & to throw.

I've been to New Orleans a few different times and I'm not really a fan.

Haven't been for Mardi Gras though, so maybe I'd change my tune?

Been there several times for the party. Its a hell of a lot of fun. Lots of people, some were a blast and some were stupid. Ever been to Spring Break? A lot like that. The food is Wonderful and the locals are for the most part really good people.
Its calmer now that it used to be I think, Lots of cops out and even they are fairly well behaved. Great Music every where. Its a lot more than just down town New Orleans, All the communities around south Lousiana have parades, music, dances and partying.

That's exactly how I imagine it to be & I'd love the opportunity to check it out. None of my friends, at least the ones I'd want to spend days with, have any interest in going. I want to experience the sights, the sounds & the smells and when the party is over I want to walk the city taking pix of all the seriously cool architecture. I think it's a beautiful city.

Love New Orleans, but don't like huge party crowds at all. I wanna go back, but during the week when it's comfortable walking weather and not during Mardi Gras.

Did New Year's Eve in Las Vegas twice - wouldn't do it again. But, my sister and our friends who really like to party til they drop and don't mind huge crowds still go almost every year.

One day I'd like to go.

Don't know if I ever will though.

I'm actually going this year!!! I can't wait!

I spent a few years there when I was younger but I don't feel like that counts. I remember the parades etc but I'm excited to go this year. I think for like 5 or 6 days!

Just so you know, I intend to hassle you for pix.

It was a big enough crowd on Memorial Day weekend last year for me. I still remember the acrid smell of piss, vomit and stale beer along Bourbon Street.

It was a fucking fat time though and I didn't get a lot of sleep..

Huge crowds are such a turn off. The love parade started with 40 wasted folks running thru the streets of Berlin totally wasted and high after the club closed, shortly before I left Germany. Good times.

When I woke up after my 15 year highly eclectic slumber in South East Asia, I was shocked to see in what it had turned into. The most amusing part about a million people tripping on E was that the huge amount of toxic pee ruined Berlin for weeks after!

All the grass and trees died until they were dead, dead, dead. *sniff*

I've been there, but not during Mardi Gras. My kids were 2 and 6 at the time so we weren't there to party in the bars all night, but we still had fun walking around the city. Lots of good food and people watching. Walking around in peace and enjoying all the sights is more up my alley than partying with a huge crowd of people anyway. We did get drunk with a couple of old black ladies on the river boat coming back from the zoo, though.

Oh no worries I will be taking pictures!! Hopefully I don't behave too badly! Hehehe I have a couple outfits all planned out of course and they include corsets and things of that nature. I think I'll be bringing not only my phone but a digital camera as well in case my battery dies faster than I can charge it.

I plan to be involved in as much as the festivities as I can be. This will be my first time going as am adult so it will be much different than my memories from when I was very young! I use to live in that area then (when I was younger) so it'll be very interesting to see how it all has changed as well from the hurricane damage and times too.

If any one has suggestions or tips I'd love to hear them and gladly take them in!
