There must be someone.....

I couldn't name one person if I tried but I'd generally say my parents when I was a child and my kids are molding and changing me as I do my best to raise them.

We're the sum of many different experiences and always changing as circumstances around us change. I was an entirely different person in my corporate life than I am today.

That sums it for me, too.

There have been several people and events that have profoundly affected me over the years and probably will be more as the ride continues.

If it was a school or business assignment to pick one and only one person who profoundly influenced me, I could choose one of a few people and go through all the "whys"; no problem. But, it would be a person who was the most influential in a specific context or during a certain period of time, not someone who I could quantify and qualify as being more influential than the others overall.

While I wouldn't have considered our experiences and outlooks on the subject to be rare either, indisputable pub research confirming that it is indeed rare recently surfaced. Who knew? Hoping you can accept the startling revelation that you might not conform to standard societal norms (weirdo!) as readily as I did. If you need any support, just let me know -- I'll PM you my Stuart Smiley loop clip -- it really helped me to stay positive on my journey from denial to acceptance.

I know my Grandad served in the Navy 40 years, and my family wanted no part of the politics over in the North. They would get harassed on the way home from Mass on Sunday's. My Granny also told my sister something about a friends son who got mixed up in that to his detriment. I guess when I went back in 2003 I was seeking 1989, but it was gone including my Grandmother. I think the Irish stuck together those that moved across to England, because my Grannies next door neighbours moved next door to her in Keighley.

You're a fucking Dumbo! If you are the standard of a person we should all conform to then I'll stay on the weird side and be glad of it. You stick with your smiley friends hairydog, it's apparently the only friends you have or will ever have! Who do you have plastered all over your bedroom wall...Roadrunner? Bugs Bunny? hah No wonder you have no answer to a simple question, You are too boring to ever have had a guiding hand in your miserable life! Except the hand that holds a ten inch long black dildo that you call your boyfriend 28 Your trouble is that you have had a charisma bypass. No wonder you are frustrated and alone, no guy would go near you for fear of getting bored to death! Better get used to it, you have a lifetime of it right in front of you honey chile.22

40 years in the navy? That's a LONNNNNG time! And to get away from the troubles was a wise move. I would have hated every second of having to live in that situation. Imagine having to uproot your family and move to another country just for some peace. That is mindblowing. I know what you mean about trying to recapture the past. I have tried it myself many years ago, more than once, it never works out, not ever. People and places change, water under the bridge and all that. And that is what you call a GREAT neighbour, one who follows you across the sea just to be near to you again. marvellous story.

Well, I never claimed to be Shirley McLaine or anything.

But, answering a simple question honestly three times doesn’t constitute not answering the question just because you can’t comprehend or aren’t satisfied with the answer. Poll the pubsters, they’ll confirm that one doesn’t equate to the other.

They would probably confirm your profile of me as well, and who am I to challenge such solid assessments?

To think....all these years of complete obliviousness to being on the verge of committing boredom-induced involuntary manslaughter. Never too late to see the light and change paths, though -- seems my friend may owe you his life.

I shall rely on his fearless support as I face the harsh diagnosis and dire warnings laid out by you and your research think-tank of drinking mates.

YOUR next stop you mean? Tell me, which one are you? You can't remember can you?! And do you think I am new to this kinda site? In fact to be truthful this site is child's play (which should suit you down to the ground hairydog). I spent some years on a site called UNCOVER REALITY, now that really was a place for flaming. Thousands of members (something you dream about every night you whore). I noticed one thing there that applies equally here. All the dumb cunts used to send big pics in along with their childish comments! It was done in the hope that no one would spot the fact that they had nothing to say! You do it too, but I just KNEW that you would hah. As for the ''snicker'' comment from Duchess, I expected her to back you up too, Good to know I'm not wrong. I never am, you are all so easy to read! Now look around for a nice big picture to send in with your next message! I'm sure Duchess will help you. I just wonder who'll help her 85

Wow...one comment challenging the theory that 8 people in a pub answering a comp class question might not be a valid gauge as to what's universally "rare" and we've got a meltdown.

That Twilight Zone episode is one my favorites. It's underlying meaning definitely applies here...

And, yep, you're a real psychic, kevvome. The validity of predictions cast after-the-fact is almost as valid and impressive as your pub-inspired theories.

The only meltdown we have is your two brain cells crashing into each other and causing you to have delusions of grandeur. You haven't had a major influence in your life because no one gave a fuck about you! So rather than admit that, you claim never to have had anyone mentor you to the extent that you have them as a major figure in shaping your personality. You see, that's it! No influence equates to no personality. Understand now el thicko? So i now believe you hairydog. Nobody has considered you important enough to guide you and advise you as a child. (you WERE a child once weren't you?) That is why today you are so fucked up that you can't think in a normal way. Anyone who isn't on the same low intellectual level as you becomes your enemy. Look, I will do my best for you, but to be quite truthful I think I am Beat_deadhorse. But I'll try, my little cactus eater.

You're really taking a toll on my self-esteem there, kevvome.

You've got me worried about my physical health now, too. Since you've made me aware of "death by boredom", I fear you may in fact be the nail in my coffin if I continue to engage with you.

There are a lot of smart and funny people here -- you'll find someone more to your standards and liking.

Well it looks like Kevin's turning out to be a real fucking fruit cake.

I don't have any influential people in my life, never did and never will. I'm my own person and can think for myself for fucks sake.

A fruit cake? phew, thank fuck for that! That makes me normal! And you are pregnant? . I hope the mentally deficient genes from you don't hit the kid. But who gives a fuck if they do?

Well of course...he's from CNs neck of the woods...so he says.

I think he's one of the banned rejects we've had before.

On a serious note Kevin, I've taught my kids not to let anyone have too much influence on their lives. It's fine to admire and respect people for their different qualities and talents or whatever... but you leave it at that. You should be your own role model.

Y'know Sal, I agree with you! Of course it is very possible not to have role models in your life that have never shaped you as a person. All i expressed was my absolute surprise at it! I called no one a liar. Was not vicious in my comments until someone tried to get smart with me. I truly hope everything goes good for you and that your baby is good and healthy. See, i'm only a part-time fruit cake Sal !
