One reason why I like summer
#1
Is the gas bill. This is mine for last month. Stay tuned for the upcoming "One reason why I hate summer" thread featuring a picture of my electric bill. This month has been one hot mother fucker, and my A/C has been running pretty much non stop.

Hahaha! 6.89. Very nice, huh.

I hear ya on the electric! It's actually another low humidity day here and I've got my windows open. I've been able to do that several times this month and I'm pretty sure that's a first for me in the month of July on the East Coast.

I also often grill. However, I knock out the fat with George Foreman.

I grilled four nights in a row over the fourth of July extended weekend.

Charcoal all the way!

Not many charcoalers left. I bet we're double-handedly responsible for global warming.

Yean, I get shit from my buddies about still using charcoal. I was brought up on a Weber, and I will die using a Weber.

Funny you should say that. Just last night we were at a friend's house for a BBQ. He's had many charcoal Weber's all his life as well, and yesterday, he still had a Weber, but this time, it was a new "GAS" Weber, for shame! hah

Blasphemy...pure blasphemy. Gas and Weber should never be used in the same sentence! However, to Webers defense, they'd be fools not to have a gas line of BBQs in today's society.

Edit: Much to my surprise, my electric bill arrived yesterday, and was only $79. I was pleasantly surprised, to say the least. So at this point, no "Why I hate summer" thread is in the works. Still have the dog days to get through, though.

Did you ask him if it was hard 'coming out'?

I like charcoal but never use the stuff with the starter fluid already in it, I can taste it in the food.

Tell me about it, honestly I was expecting $100 more than that.

Agreed, bought a bag of that stuff once. #1. It was outrageously expensive (for charcoal). And #2, like you said, it does impart a taste on the food.

I'm thinking right now that I must be a lazy bastard. I know that food tastes so much better grilled with charcoal rather than gas but if I recall correctly they are a lot more work than gas. Y'all know I think my grill sucks ass and I've been thinking about a charcoal grill since Kid started this thread.

More work? Dump charcoal, add fluid, wait 1-2 min, light. I guess the "work" part would come into play when ya gotta empty the ashes into a trash bag (actually, I dont even do that..I just scoop them out and disperse over my back yard).

Patience! I should have said patience. Obviously I think patience is work. Jesus. Hahaha. You have to wait for the coals to be ready, right? I've seen food grilled & I've eaten it grilled but I don't recall ever cooking it myself and I have a memory of having to wait.

hah Actually, he really didn't have much of a choice. His wife bought it for him, as over all the years he always seemed to burn & or undercook most of the foods. He could not regulate the heat as he wanted to do. It was always a hit & miss BBQ cooked meal, sometimes good, and many times bad.

Yesterday, he did a gas grill good BBQ job, as he regulated the heat as he needed. All the various foods were cooked properly for once.
