CHANGING A DIAPER
#1

...at your table in a restaurant. Would you do it? Is it wrong for the server to bring the meal you ordered to you in a take out box and ask you to leave because you did that?

This actually happened and the customer has complained to the BBB. She said she did it at the table because there were no changing tables in the rest room.

If I needed to change an adult diaper, I'd shuffle the dirty-diaper wearer on into the restroom and do it there over the toilet. Doing it at the table would just be wrong, all the way around.

If it was a child's diaper that needed changing, I'd take the kid into the car, I think.

If I hadn't a car and was dealing with a crying kid who desperately needed a diaper change, I might do it on the seat of a booth -- real sneaky-like; hoping that nobody was on to me (then, dispose of the evidence in the restroom promptly). But, I'd not be too surprised or pissed off if I was busted and asked to leave (especially if the server at least brought me my order to go).

I wouldn't do any of that unless it was an absolute necessity, though -- I always just waited until we left the restaurant if my niece or nephew or great grandma needed a changing but wasn't making a scene.

I think most sit down restaurants still have countertops in their bathrooms. Changing a diaper at your table is unsanitary. Other people are eating around you. I'd expect to be asked to leave.
I'd imagine you could complain to the BBB that a place doesn't have changing tables, not my area of expertise as they don't put changing tables in Men's rooms (SEXIST!) Agree with hotdog tho, I wouldn't be offended. Then again, I have class.

I would be fucking livid if I was at a restaurant and someone was changing their kids dirty diaper in the dining room at their table. Go out to the CAR!!!

And shame on the restaurant for not having a changing table in the bathroom. The parents and the restaurant both have blame here.

No. Never. Ever. No. And if I saw someone doing it, I would say something.

I read that restaurants are not required to even have bathrooms let alone changing tables. I don't know if this is actually true or not, I didn't care enough to investigate further.

It's pretty much a common sense thing. Most dirty diapers can wait, but otherwise the normal thing to do would be to take the kid to the car if there are no changing tables. If for some strange reason you're at a restaurant without a car then the next thing to do is sit in the stall with the kid in your lap if they're to small to stand by themselves. You might get some shit on you, but anyone that has children has probably dealt with that at some time or other. If it's an infant you can probably just get away with changing them under a blanket in the booth or in their carrier. If it's an 8 month old kid with a loaded diaper then you have to figure something else out. It's really not that hard.

I imagine grandma shitting her pants at the restaurant would pose more of an obstacle.

Hopefully Granny would be wearing a Depends and could go to the bathroom and take care of it...or the car. hah
