TOO OLD?
#1

Are you too old for anything?

I normally view age as nothing more than a number and think it's all about how one feels but then I wanted ombre hair and came to the realization that I'm too old for fads. Bummer. So now I'm a redhead for a little while.

You're not too old for hombre Duchess. You could do it a little less dramatic than some of the younger girls. But you could pull it off.

Ombre hair is darker at the roots and gradually becomes lighter towards the ends.

I've seen some females use wild colors as well, blues, greens, purple.

You are not too old for ombre; I think a person can color their hair any shade that compliments their complexion and look great..I, for one, though, hate the look of dark roots gradually getting lighter at ends. I think it looks like you didn't take time to have your roots "done." I grew up next to military installation and the prostitutes in the red light district seemed to prefer this look. It wasn't the trend then and it was seen as slutty looking and certainly not called "ombre." ...... so guess it just reminds me of the street walkers way back in the 50's and 60's. I hated my hometown. I could be walking down main street with my boyfriend of the moment, and they would proposition him right there on the street. This happened at the "Queen Bee" nightclub in Tokyo. I went to the unisex bathroom and when I returned, he was surrounded by the "ladies." Well, I digress, but please don't do this color. You would look great as a redhead (any shade, but probably strawberry blonde)...

I think I am too old for some clothing..but some of the stuff I feel I am too old for is stuff I probably would not have worn when I was young.

I think f you want to do it, go for it.

I think the ombre fad has come and gone around here. It was big about a year and a half or so ago. I toyed with doing something like that but more common (now) is having a darker (or different) color underneath/at the bottom as opposed to going from darker on top to lighter on the bottom. I'm with BBH, the latter, done wrong, just looks like you're growing out your hair. Two examples:

Brown on top with purple undertones (yes, I definitely feel too old to pull this off but I think it's sort of pretty):

This is just horrible:

I get my hair highlighted and my hairdresser discourages me from having the under side of my hair highlighted frequently (if at all). So, I'm blonder on top with more of a light-medium brown underneath.

As far as clothing, I think physique/fitness should play more of a role than age. There are some obese 20 year old's who shouldn't wear short skirts and yet they do. If you're in shape but have veiny/older legs, I think you can wear a fairly short skirt...just wear some tights with the dumb thing.

Personally, as much as I work out, I'm having a hard time with bikini's for the last couple of years. I've taken to wearing tankini's, Add to that, even in a beach environment, I'm not really comfortable showing that much leg (so when I walk around, I usually wrap a sarong around my waist). Pretty soon I'm going to buy one of those burka bathing suits.

I'm too old to do a back walkover like I used to but then again, I haven't really worked on it lately either. I've also lost my hula hoop mojo which I mentioned in another thread.

Most of the chicks that get around here with that kind of hair have the hipster jeans, tramp stamp, belly button piercing and the crop top.

This is one of those moments when I realize I am so out of the loop!

The only chicks you actually see here are NGO or UN workers who somehow don't seem to give a shit about any sort of trends. It's like being part of some weirdly motivated Hippy commune.
