DO IT ALREADY, MS
#21

My dogs (one at a time) not only slept indoors but got a Christmas stocking too. They were all females and all loved to ride in the car with me. She was often greeted before I was.

You should definitely get a dog MS. MJ is the first dog that has been totally mine. I just love her to pieces. She's the sweetest dog and so affectionate. It's good for kids to have pets. It teaches them responsibility. But the best part is the bond between a kid and their dog.

I can't imagine living my life without animals in it.

Did you talk to the wife, MS?

I did.

We had the kids with us too.

Let's just say no commitments yet.

What's holding you back? I'm genuinely curious, not being snarky at all.

I'm not sure.

I could've been talked into it.

Neither the kids nor my wife were excited.

That'll change. When they're back on board we'll do it.

That says everything. I thought your kids were clamoring for a dog.

Your wife is probably struggling enough with the boneheaded jackass she has in the house to worry about keeping a dog under control too.

Yeah.

2 kids, a dawg AND a dog?

A year ago they were.

Now, my daughter would prefer a cat, and Will would still love a dog.

It was more my wife. She realizes she'll be doing much of the walking on those cold, cold winter days, and that takes some of the luster off.

I like having my little guy inside. He's half pit, so he needs bathing twice a week or he stinks like ass. He's a short hair, so even when he sheds it's not unmanageable and he's well behaved.

I resisted the Old English too, then found out they don't shed and was all in. It's remarkable how much hair they have and none of it ends up around the house. Incredibly sweet disposition too... if someone broke into the house she'd hold the flashlight for them, but oh well.

Yeah, I have a Golden Retriever, and he sheds like mad. We try to keep him brushed and replace our air filters regularly (along with weekly dusting/vacuuming) to try to keep the hair at a min tho. Know what you mean about sweet. If robbers broke in, he'd become best friends and leave with them, especially if they stole any cheese or PB along their larceny.
yeah the golden retriever I had years ago was sweet too. Everyone in town loved her except for the neighbors/hunter's whose pelts and animal carcasses she retrieved for us...unasked.

Lol, we were driving in the car and he saw a Canadian goose standing on the side of the road. He just kind of "went dog" as we described it. The window was up, so he couldn't go after it, but his whole body was tense and he was ready to chase and capture. He seemed to think their long necks would fit perfectly between his teeth.

I have a female pit, but she was banned from the city for getting a little rowdy with the neighbor's pets, it's not like she killed them or anything. Sheesh, people are so uptight. So now she stays at my husband's warehouse and office. She's very clean and I never minded her in the house. The other two though, what a mess. The Newfoundland shakes his head and slobber flies everywhere. And I swear, you could open up a sealed container and you'd find his hair in it.

My in-laws have had golden's for 30+ years.

Great dogs.

Friendly, playful, probably a tad too hyper, but they'll play ball and want to be your buddy forever.

You should probably consider yourself lucky no one put a bullet in her. I would have.

Why? I could see if she ran up on someone's kid or tried to eat their toy poodle, but that wasn't the case. It was with another dog that was bigger than her and the one that dug the damn hole under my fence in the first place. I don't know why people get so freaked out over dog fights, they make it worse. All you have to do is spray them with a hose or throw a blanket over them, they'll break up. No reason to break out the gun, unless like I said your little dog is getting killed.

The second time was with a cat that I asked them to keep out of my yard. She got a hold of it one day and if she really wanted to kill it she would have. There wasn't a damn thing wrong with the cat, but it was crying so I paid for the vet exam.

The third time I was walking her on the leash and an unleased little rat dog bit her on the nose so she grabbed him by the neck and shook the shit out of him. But again no injuries.

Wow. That doesn't sound like me. I don't advocate putting bullets in pets for fuckssake. This is what it's like to be old, Sally. You witnessed my senior moment.

You know I adore Maxi and have coveted him for years.

I'd put a bullet in a dog if it came after my kid. And maybe if it came in my yard and tried to eat my ugly pug. But just an average dog fight, pffft I'm not getting in the middle of that shit.

My Newfoundland and another large male dog got into a fight at the dog park once and then all these other dogs jumped into it, it was like a huge ball of dogs rolling around. I'm trying to remain calm while all these other people are going berserk, they weren't much better than the dogs. This one lady is screaming "call 911, call 911" and then some other guy starts screaming at me "this is your fault, what your dog did was absolutely fucking uncalled for!". Jesus Christ.
