Ok, just wondering if any of you use a Cub Cadet riding mower for your lawn or work? My work mower went down and I have ben busy surfing the web looking at my options. The one that keeps catching my eye is the LT54 made by Cub. Its a nice looking mower with a 54 inch deck, but the reviews I am seeing are mixed. So I thought I would see if any of you use one and could give me a hones opinion.

I've got a Hustler Super Z. That fucker is almost indestructible.

I have 10 acres to mow with about 2 dozen trees and steep hills. I need indestructible. I had a craftsman 50 inch that did real good for 5 years, but then the deck started giving out. Now it shits a belt every time I use it and has developed a shake.
Another option I am looking at is a pull behind mower deck that I can pull behind my Rhino. I can upsize to a 60 inch cut for about the same price.

Crash, I just looked up your mower. Is it a zero turn? I want to make sure I am looking at the right mower.

If you have trees and garden beds and shit to get around, you'll live the Hustler. Zero turn, easy control, smooth ride. I mow my acres with a beer in my hand in the summer. It's all washed off and back in the shed in a little over an hour.

I tried a friends Kabota zero turn and it wouldn't pull the hill I have. Hell to do it with my current mower I have to transverse it with my fat ass sitting on the side of the fender and my leg holding down the seat so the kill switch doesn't activate.

I don't have any real steep slopes here, it's pretty flat really. I think lawn mower manufacturers get a litt nervous about designing mowers for sloping ground; litigation risks about them tipping over I guess.
My buddy has a really shitty sloping lot. He bought a Grillo Climber and swears by it. I think they have some vids on YouTube.

I know if the manufacturers seen me mow that hill they would shit their pants. I remember the very first time I did it. I had to work up the courage and when I was finished I was so nervous that I went into the bar and slammed 3 beers. lol

A pull behind is nice. For 10 acres that is. You can get a de-thatcher attachment for cheap money then. Fall is the time to buy not the dead of winter. By then everyone has the ones for sale put away till spring.

I'm for the pull behind as well with the amount of land you have to cut and steep grade. If the Kubota can get up the hills easily, and pull behind makes the most sense.

I am starting to lean that way. I can use my Rhino to pull it and still keep a cooler of beer within reach.

Well I fanally bought one and it is nothing like I thought I would end up with. I just picked up a John Deere 145. It is used but by a 70 year old man with a pretty small and smooth lawn. It came with counter weights, tire chains, snow plow [never used] , 48 inch deck, 4cubic ft lawn cart [used once] and a canopy [never used] . Its a low hour machine that spent most of its time sitting in a garage. The guy changed the oil @ 25 hours, 50 hours, 100 hours and 200 hours. I will need to change the oil in about 70 hours to keep up with the 100 hour schedule. He changed the blades and belts every year weather they needed them or not. All in all not a bad deal for $900.
