Just think....

If the war in the middle east gets worse and the U.S. gets dragged into it Obama could feasibly stay in office past his departure time and take a firm grip on the helm. Its not a far fetched scenario.

It won't happen.

I'll never understand why anyone in their right mind would want that job. Fuck all if I'd put my life on hold to attempt to help millions of ingrates. Screw all of you.

For some it's the money, for some its the power. I don't think its because they wants to make America greater or better but they sure do like to get their pictures taken.

That job makes people old before their time AND it's a thankless position. I wouldn't want anyone I cared about doing it.

I think it would be a great job. Where else can you work for 4 or even a max of 8 and get paid for a lifetime?

I didn't give thought to the money (or perks) at all and I still don't. I could never suffer through a sucky job or anything else for that matter simply for the money. How my mind feels is so much more important to me so I viewed the Presidency the same way.

Almost a 12 million per year for the rest of my life would make me put up with a lot of mental stress for 4-8 years. Then throw in the book deals, dinner engagements and the rest of the BS and WOW !

Don't forget Golf! You could spend 4 years playing that game for free. Then there's the NIKE endorsements......

Firm grip on the helm? THAT'S far fetched. It's a hot mess over there and I have yet to hear one of the candidates articulate a foreign policy that gives me any confidence.

Although Donald is going to be BFF's with Putin...there's that.

I trust Putin like I trust a mixed drink from Cosby but he sure is making Obama sit on his hands in the corner with a dunce cap on. Obamas ego may not let him sit idly by while Russia does war like a whore in a sex rehab facility. I say let them fight it out. The rebels the U.S. have been training run like chickens let loose from the coup in the morning.

I'm happy that finally Putin is getting into the ring. Putin is cool and it sure can't get worse over here!

I just had a short read at another site I am a member of and it got me thinking, while kinda out there is it possible we are headed towards WWIII? This quote from there caught my attention . . .
Vladimir Putin has designs on the entire Middle East. With a nuclear armed Iran in his pocket, Russia may not have to be the one to screw with America and NATO. All the while, China continues to build it’s arsenal and watch what happens.

Strictly based on historical precedent, given our militaristic, aggressive and xenophobic attitudes, that if ww3 comes it will be/has been started by us. If you read the rhetoric currently being spouted by Trump et al, it is nearly identical to the fearmongering that brought the German national socialist party into power in the 30's. And nobody is quicker to blow shit up than us. Nobody. And if the current conflicts should escalate rather than dissipate, history will eventually reflect that the conflicts were started when USA destabilized the region in pursuit of oil revenue. Probably take a couple hundred years for it to get to that point though.

There is also the very real possibility that our arrogant stance and sense of superiority will ally others against us in a much more organized fashion like we already see in the middle east. History shows that when there is only one military-based superpower, it tends to lose cooperative support from the rest of the civilized world until it collapses under its own weight. No one likes a bully.

However, it is far more likely that we will be torn apart by our own internal prejudices and stupidity, as parts of our country are currently being whipped into a frenzy by the absolute worst combination of factors: economic disparity and religious fervor. Money and God start damn near every war in human history, with the exception of those started over sex.
Thank god I am oblivious to the opinions of others while caught in the blinding splendor of my own cleverness.
