Fucked up Funeral
Thanks for that.
I also checked with my friend who races and runs a mechanic shop, he said the same thing I did about Ford not making / offering them here. He also is unsure if it's a regional thing too.

I decided on no dually for this truck because it is my everyday ride as well and I didn't want to pay extra tolls and weight charges for it. It would just be more truck than I need. Now that I'm without horses it's WAY more truck than I need but it's nice to drive. I just can't get used to driving a car. I feel like I'm sitting in a beer can with wheels!

Both my 2008 and 2006 F350 duallys are 4x4. We don't use it often though.

Cowboy used to have a dually, he used it to pull one of the horse trailers...It had two gas tanks on it & that puppy only got 6 mi. to a gal...It's history now.

SyberBitch Wrote:Update - At the funeral, my mom was told that her dad 'didn't leave a will'.

The house was mutually owned by my grandmother (who has Alzheimers) and my grandfather. 'Tenancy in common', meaning when one of them dies, the entire interest of the house goes to the surviving spouse (that being my grandmother). My mom has legal 'power of atty' over my grandmother and my grandmother has been living with my mom the last several years, my mom as her caretaker.

Friday evening, my aunt showed up at my mom's house, to take grandmother to 'spend the night' with her. The next day, Aunt J was supposed to have brought Grandmother back, but did not. Mom could not reach her by phone. Sunday, Mom was called and 'informed' that Aunt J did not intend to bring Grandmother back. My mom was then told that Grandpa DID leave a will, but had specifically stated he did not want my mother getting 'anything' and that the house was to be left to my uncle, 'on the condition' that my grandmother was taken away from my mom and put back in their jointly owned house.

So, my mom went to the police and such, found out that she couldn't really do anything about the 'kidnapping' until Monday because she would have to go to the Magistrate's office and get a court order. I took enough medicine to last Grandmother a couple of days to the old house, so she wouldn't be without. While there, Aunt J stated that she had 'bought the house' from my Uncle, because he was the 'executor' of the estate.... dumbasses. Can they seriously be that stupid and ignorant of probate law??

I'm going to have a busy day tomorrow. =p
Update #2 - Retribution

Today, my aunt took my grandmother to the doctor, to try and get all of grandmother's prescriptions transferred to her (my aunt). My aunt, and her various pedophiliac sex-offender mongoloid mates over the years (she's been married like 10 times, no lie) are substance abusers by the way... Anyway, the doctor told her that since the meds had already been refilled this month, she would have to go get the meds from my mom. After speaking to a social worker all morning, we were told that if until grandmother is proven 'incompetent' by court hearing, she can pretty much SAY who she wants to stay with and that if she's staying with my aunt, my mom is 'required' to give her the medications she needs, so she won't go without. I more or less knew that anyway, but was hoping there was a way to get around it and 'force' my aunt to give my grandmother back.

So, after talking to the doctor and being unable to get grandmother's prescriptions from him, my aunt came to my mom's house to get them. I happened to be there with my handy-dandy digital voice recorder. My grandmother was in the car. I clued my mom in as to what she needed to do before my aunt arrived...

Aunt J comes to the door. My mom says "I want to see Mom". Aunt J can't really refuse her, so we both go out to the car. I hug Grandmother and say "Do you want to come inside and see your dog?" She says she does. We help her out of the car and into the house... cha-ching!!! After mom and grandmother cross the threshold, I turn to face my aunt, who is trying to move past me, and say to her "That's far enough".

::bigg::

Aunt J: "What?? I can't come in??"

Me: "I don't think so"

Aunt J: "Well I never!! I'm taking Mom with me!"

Me: "No, you're not"

Aunt J: "See this paper! *I* have POWER OF ATTORNEY"

Me: (laughing) "No, you don't. That paper is worthless.

Aunt J: "We're going to get the Sheriff!!"

Me: "Yeah, whatever. Good luck with that"
(having already been through the process of trying to get grandmother back from Aunt J ourselves)

Aunt J: "I'll be back!!!"

Me: "What, you're the Terminator now? Your impression is terrible".

(exit Aunt J, huffing and fire shooting out of her eyes as she stomps off the porch, slamming the door)

::lmao::

And tomorrow.... we throw them out of Grandmother's house.

By the way, I asked Grandmother, on tape, if she wanted to stay with mom. She said she did, so our asses are covered. hah!

Well, one good thing is there are plenty of relatives willing to take your grandma in. Not really for the right reasons, but still...

Hahah... true enough.

I've never seen my aunt so angry though, it was pretty funny actually, to see the tables turned on her. She has milked my grandmother of her money for years. It would be a total disaster for my aunt to get control of grandmother's pitiful income. My grandmother would be penniless.

Nobody cares that your family members are almost as fucked up as you. Any advice that you receive here is given in the hope that you'll finally shut the fuck up about this bullshit.

Step out in the sunlight and find yourself a therapist. If you put a bag over your head and pay enough, I'm sure that someone will be willingly to actually listen to your pathetic pissing and moaning. ::aww::

I thought this lump of sod had 'returned to the earth' so to speak. Due to the extremely tedious nature of my last exchange with this cretin, he has the dubious honor of being the first to find himself *plonked* by me. His mocks are unoriginal and rarely have anything to do with the actual content being mocked. I find even the modest effort it requires to respond to him, to be so unrewarding as to be worthless.

Your mocks are unoriginal and never have anything to do with the actual content being mocked.

I'm sensing a little sexual tension between you two. It's a bit tasteless to mention it in a funeral thread, but no more so then discussing trucks.

On his side maybe... unfortunately, it takes at least mensa quality to even begin to interest me. If I wanted to bat around no talent byte wasters, I would have never left some of the old forums I used to participate in.

You meant competent right? Gran has to be competant to make her own decisions on who she stays with.

Your tape means nothing. Unless you put a preamble on there saying the day, time and who is in the room and what you're recording for. If you have a camcorder, use that too.

Do it again with all the p's & q's in place or that tape aint' worth shit. Make sure also you don't sound like you're coaching her.

If she's incompetant like you (i'm sure mistakenly) write, she has no say but the power of attorney should.

I'd try a video of her and take a shot of everyone in the room. That would prove all the more she was not coaxed and she did not read off a script.

I had a pretty interesting exchange with BornDragon, but this gimp wasn't able to give me a worthy reply during the entire row. It's probably been a week since that happened. It was like trying to joust when your opponent has neither a horse, nor a weapon. I'd rather spend my time interacting with higher quality material.

Thanks for the advice. I might be able to get video, my camera does a pretty good job of that.

Actually, I meant 'incompetent'. I believe the statement was something to the effect 'until she is proven incompetent by court hearing, she can say where she wants to be', but yeah, I know what you're saying.

Today, we went to the courthouse and got copies of the deed to the house and the will (which was registered yesterday), as well as the 'guardianship' packet that my mom will have to do through civil court. I then took mom and grandmother to the library, where I printed out new forms for Durable Power of Attorney and Medical Power of Attorney, read them to my grandmother, asked her questions about who she wanted to make her decisions for her, and of course she said she wanted my mom to. Then recorded everything (stating the time, place and all that) before the Notary and had it all notarized.

The recordings themselves may be worthless, but no harm done either. I'll have to take mom back to the courthouse tomorrow to get everything reregistered and make sure to send registered copies to my aunt and uncle.

What a mess... seriously. Just one more reason to only have one kid. At least I won't have to worry about my kids fighting over whatever I might have had when I kick off.

Good thinking on the notary!
The whole trick is to not leave any loopholes for them to say you coerced her or that you're up to 'something'.

Let them all look like lunatics. If auntie comes around like some fuming fool, then go to court and get an order of protection against her to keep her away from you and yours. Cite attempted kidnapping and violence.

The whole idea is to make her look nuts and the order of protection would be icing on the cake.

It would have to be good timing she fucks up to give you cause for that order before she puts her evil plan in progress too. Sounds like she's not smart enough to figure you out though and I'm betting you'll always be a few steps ahead of her.

Yeah, she thinks she super clever and all, but oh so transparent. The original reason I was recording stuff with my aunt, is because I was worried that she WOULD become violent, and then I would have evidence against her. So far, she hasn't been stupid enough to actually try anything like that, but I wouldn't put it past her. Her side of the family especially, are a bunch of low-brow rednecks. If for nothing other than my own amusement, I have her on tape saying "I done bought the house!". lol It makes me laugh.

Have you started probate yet? If there is no will and you haven't started probate , then you do know that your grandmother can put your mothers name on the deed to the house right from your home? You just need the documents and a notary will come to your house. Then you just file it at the courthouse. It costs $15 and your mom will own the house when grandma passes away.

I'm not actually sure what G wants to do with her house after she's gone... I just know she doesn't want it sold while she's alive.

There was a will, my grandpa stated that he wanted 'the house and everything to go to R' (my uncle). Unfortunately for him, the house was jointly owned with survivorship rights... which means it automatically went to my grandmother when he died... not that my Uncle or Aunt understand that yet.
