Not sure what's going on between my two new pals but here's my $.04:

Some federal workers do surf while @ work, but so do some private industry folks. In fact, there was some kind of study done saying people spend inordinate amounts of time online on non-business stuff while @ work.

I don't think its a problem...and actually - I have several windows open while working on things. When I get stuck or I get writers block I'll check my forum, google news, drudgereport, drudge retort, pandagon, this place...whatever. I can't explain but actually helps. No lie.

Check out this article. It basically shows why surfing the web while at work isn't hurting US companies.

Back to feds:
There are some federal workers who are uneducated, unmotivated, stubborn, and stank. These are the folks set to retire in the next 5 to 10 years. I mean a mass exodus. They came in from high school & know no other work. And, these are the same folks who make life hard for the new Fed force folks like me. Refusing to train us, hiding info from us, getting angry at us because we start off with higher salaries...trying to prove we're dumb because we have college degrees. The way thngs are right now where I work, you can't get job in the mailroom without an Masters. If you're already in & you work hard you can climb though.

I have not had an easy time with some of the older / more seasoned fed folks....to the point where I wondered if I made a mistake by accepting the position which was offered to me. :(

Anyway - I also read the recent article about overpaid federal workers...and I honestly smiled because I will be at six figs in ~ 3 years, but unlike certain people in public service & in private industry - I'll deserve it.

Lumpy has a bad habit of being a disrespectful game-playing bitch, which has probably played a role in her unsuccessful relationships with men. I have experienced the "PM privacy betrayal" you are indicating. Many have been "betrayed" by that bitch. She makes light of it, and will make excuses as to why it is OK, but normal people know it is a dick move.
