how does your garden grow?

It's almost time to plant stuff! I can't wait! :B

Flowers, flowers everywhere overflowing from baskets & containers. The smell of suntan oil & chlorine, rockin' out to a lil' Nickelback & warm sunshine. C'mon summer!

I love gardens, this year I will be more ready than the last and with my new composter I built with a 55 gallon drum the humus will-a-be allover the place. My plans are sketched out in a rough drawing and my boxes are ready to be assembled. I opened up the other half of my yard and cut down some trees that will let the sun in.
I may even try ........lettuce!

LC~ With your abundance of cukes, have you ever had/made freezer pickles?(I think that's what they call it) You just slice them and some onion, add sugar, white vinegar, water and celery seed. Pop them in the fridge...they last a long time, and they're yummy!!! Even my toddler likes them Smiley_emoticons_wink OR I take and chop them in 1 12 chunks, spoon most of the center out and fill with shrimp cocktail as an hors d'oeuvre.

As for the planting. This year I want to grow an herb garden...but just something small, since it's just my daughter and I since my divorce. I was thinking of using a terra cotta pot? Wish me luck...I LOVE to cook and try new recipes, but I'm an AWESOME baker.(I sell decorated cut out cookies during the holidays along with cupcake and cookie bouquets throughout the year)

i love lavender too...but i have no special skill at gardening. i just stick stuff in the ground and try to keep it alive. but i always had good luck with my herb gardens, i think most herbs are pretty hardy & they don't like their feet too wet.

Having a hard time getting the wifey to get her seeds planted....bought her a new shelf over the weekend so she's got a better place to put them, hopefully that's the kick in the ass she needed.

You are no longer in the womb, friend. The competition is tougher out here.
