I feel so bad for this poor man. He must have been terrified. I've experienced anaphylactic shock and now carry an epi pen, not being able to breathe is horrifying.

KUPANG - A wild crocodile swallowed a 10-year-old girl while she played in a river with her father in eastern Indonesia, the second death in the same place in two months, a local official said Friday.

The girl was swimming in Wailolong river on Thursday when the large crocodile suddenly appeared, swallowed her instantly and disappeared into the water, said Viktor Mado Waton, Lembata district head in East Nusa Tenggara province.

"They only found the girl's clothes three hours after the incident, some 200 metres (650 feet) away from the attack site," he said, adding that her family members were still trying to find the body.

"Her father saw this shocking scene as he was only five metres away in the water."

He said the father and the girl's teenage brother were hunting turtles in the river while she was playing.

A 12-year-old boy was killed and eaten by a crocodile in the same river in early December when he was playing with his friends, Waton said.

The district head said he has warned locals of the danger and he will work with police to shut the area off to prevent another incident.

Texas
Taking all the recommended precautions wasn't enough to keep a mountain lion from snatching a 6-year-old Leander boy from his mother's hand and clamping its jaws on his face at Big Bend National Park on Sunday night.

About 8 p.m., Kristi Harris, her husband and their two boys were leaving the restaurant at Chisos Mountains Lodge after dinner on the first day of their vacation. Each parent was gripping one boy's hands, and they headed to their room, Harris said.

Harris and her husband, Jason Hobbs, had heard about a mountain lion that tried to attack a family on a park trail earlier in the day before it was scared off when a backpack was thrown at it. The parents then decided to have the boys sleep indoors with mom rather than camp outside with dad, and throughout the day, they made sure to keep the boys close by, Harris said.

"This attack did not happen on a trail. We were not hiking," Harris said. "We were on a paved walkway in between a restaurant and a hotel, and this cat grabbed my child from me."

The lion dragged Rivers Hobbs into a bush next to the walkway, Harris said. Jason Hobbs jumped on top of the lion and was hitting it while Harris gripped its hind legs; Hobbs eventually stabbed the lion's chest with his pocketknife, Harris said.

The lion dropped the boy and ran away, Harris said.

Park rangers began evacuating nearby trails and campsites early Monday. The Chisos Basin area, along with the Window, Pinnacles, Boulder Meadow and Juniper Flats trails, is still closed, officials said.

Yea that was a pretty big deal down here. Reports were that the lion was in very poor shape, probably due to the sever droughts here and the wild fires this pas year. That kid is gonna have some bragging right scars

A man-eating leopard has claimed its fifth victim in just two months after dragging away and devouring a 14-year-old girl in Nepal.
So far, all the animal's victims have been female.

In the latest attack, the unnamed teenager was cutting grass in the forest near her home in Baitadi district, on the border with India, when she was attacked by the animal, said Bishnu Bahadur Karki, a local deputy superintendent of police.

"The locals found the body torn into pieces and eaten below the neck at the forest area yesterday," he told AFP.

Karki said three young girls and a 35-year-old pregnant woman had been killed in the weeks leading up to yesterday's attack.

Police believed the same animal was responsible for all the deaths.

"The leopard has continuously been victimising and terrorising the people of Pancheshwor village. We requested the district forest office to allow us to kill it but they refused, saying that the law does not provide such permission," Karki told AFP.

"Our request to have the leopard handed over to a zoo has also been rejected. The villagers and police are trying hard to take that leopard into custody."

Villagers claim three more people have been killed by the leopard in nearby settlements on the Indian side of the border.

"We are scared to walk alone," Shiva Singh Saud, the headmistress of a local primary school was quoted as saying in the Kathmandu-based Republica newspaper.

"More people may be attacked if the leopard is not taken under control immediately."

I hope that poor kid went into shock as that cat was eating her entrails. They eat the intestines first as the victim sits motionless giving in to their fate. Nerves sometimes making a leg twitch as the tendons are stretched. Then the big cat can sometimes take hours to deliver the final blow.
He ain't heavy, he's my brother.

I was going to ask which would be better...to be eaten by a big scary cat, or burned alive, but I thought it would be uncouth...so I'm not going to ask.

Eaten by the cat, it would be over quicker.

I agree. I would rather the last image in my mind be a big beautiful cat eating the life out of me, than my family members getting off on burning me alive.

Wonder if they know about wearing a mask with eyes on it backwards? Supposed to protect you from leopards since they always attack from behind

No comment, obviously the leopards life is more important than the human life is, which makes absolute sense after all, not joking. I believe that we should capture that leopard , examine her dna and produce some millions clones of her, the next step is of course distrib buting those clones around the Globe and let them do the job quick and clean.

Then we could just blow away the leopards from afar, as before the distributing , we would have put a tiny explosion mechanism on their brain for that reason.

and they all lived happily ever after ...

Two women were mauled to death after bears broke free from their cages in a Japanese animal park, police revealed today.

Officers said an unknown number of animals are still on the loose in the snow-covered Hachimantai bear park in Akita prefecture.

The park, in the north west of the country, keeps 38 animals, most of them brown bears.

Hunters have shot dead six of the animals, all within the gated park campus, and had recovered two bodies, thought to be those of workers at the facility, an Akita police spokesman said.

Emergency services were alerted after 10am local time to bear attacks in the park, which was closed to tourists for the winter, AFP reported today.

The police spokesman said the incident was not yet over.

'It's difficult to say exactly how many bears left their cages,' he told AFP, stressing that emergency workers were scrambling to contain the situation as darkness fell.

It took several hours before emergency workers could even go into the bear park for fears of being attacked by bears on the loose.

Police have asked local residents and school children to stay indoors.

Jesus Christ! Doesn't anyone have any powdered bone of an albino child we could use to make a potion to ward off some of these vicious beasts?

Someone needs to get on it already.
