DETROIT -- Tanya Skelton spoke with Local 4 on Tuesday about her three missing sons and their father, John Skelton.

She addressed the claims John made about her abusing the children.

"For him to accuse me hurts," Tanya said.

She also talked about the time she spent in prison.

"I am a different person now," Tanya said. "My children get time outs, they don't even get spanked."

Last week, Tanya broke her silence since her sons went missing on Thanksgiving day. Sources said she had been encouraged by police to stay quiet while they interrogated her soon-to-be ex-husband John Skelton on the whereabouts of their boys.

Tanya had a message for her estranged husband:

“Everyone, not just me, not just my family, but everyone has hurt enough. Just tell us where the boys are,” Tanya said.

I take it from this reply that you don't put much stock in psychics?
Sometimes in the past I have been quite accurate but of course I cannot guarantee this will be true but its just as credible as some of the searching they did in the past with no results.

Still nothing huh?

uuugg....

If those boys were alive with someone, they would have contacted the police by now, if they have half a brain. I could never hurt my little boy, I can't imagine anyone doing that to their child....

Detroit News Dec. 27

The father of three boys missing since Thanksgiving from their Morenci home waived preliminary examination of parental kidnapping charges and agreed to be bound over for trial in Lenawee County Circuit Court.

John Russell Skelton, 39, who refused to tell a different judge last week the location of Andrew, 9, Alexander, 7, and Tanner Skelton, 5, appeared briefly before Lenawee County District Judge James Sheridan today.

When asked by Sheridan today if he understood he was giving up his right to see and challenge evidence police claim to have against him in a hearing that was set for Tuesday, Skelton answered, "I guess so." The judge repeated the rights Skelton was giving up and the second time the defendant answered, "Yes sir."
he'll be arraigned on kidnapping Jan. 5.

WTF is he smiling about?

presser today, Feb.1:

MORENCI, Mich. —

Police have switched the focus of the Skelton brothers investigation from a missing persons case to a murder case.

The announcement was made at a news conference this afternoon, 68 days after 9-year-old Andrew, 7-year-old Alexander and 5-year-old Tanner were last seen at their father’s home in Morenci.

Morenci Police Chief Larry Weeks said the investigative team, which includes state police and FBI agents, met Jan. 19 to evaluate the evidence collected to that point.

“The decision was made by myself to shift the focus of the investigation (to a murder case),” Weeks said in a separate interview.

He then informed the boys’ family, including their mother, Tanya Skelton, of the decision.

The reasons to announce the change in the focus are threefold, Weeks said.

One reason, he said, is that as spring approaches and people return to doing things outdoors, he wants them to be aware of what they might find, and “not be thinking that they’re with an ‘organization.’”

The boys’ father, John Skelton, testified in a custody hearing in December that he gave the boys to an “organization” that he refused to name at the time. MAY HE DIE HORRIBLY IN A PRISON CELL. DIE

Another reason, Weeks said, is that he wants to be up front with those who have held out hope that the boys would be found. He said John Skelton has spread “false hope” with his statement about giving the boys to an organization.

“There’s been a lot of effort by the people in our community and surrounding areas going into locating the boys alive and well with this organization,” Weeks said. “Based on the information that we have in the investigation, it’s important that people understand where we’re at and the direction it’s going to process that information accordingly.”

Weeks also said he wants people to be aware that given the timeframe from when the boys were last seen to when John Skelton went to the hospital for treatment of an ankle injury suffered in an apparent suicide attempt — about 3 p.m. Thanksgiving Day to about 1:30 p.m. the next day — the boys could have been taken a long distance from Morenci, even further than the areas searched in Lenawee and Hillsdale counties in Michigan and Fulton and Williams counties in Ohio in the week after they were reported missing.

Weeks also said John Skelton gave him the name of the alleged organization to which he gave his sons, but based on the resources available to him, he has been unable to locate a group by the name United Foster Outreach and Underground Sanctuaries.

“Obviously, based on earlier comments, we don’t believe the story about turning the kids over to an organization is a truthful one,” Weeks said.

ADRIAN — A criminal hearing on parental kidnapping charges against John Skelton was continued after he made a brief appearance Wednesday morning in Lenawee County Circuit Court.

Judge Margaret Noe granted the continuance, which was made by Mr. Skelton's attorney, John Glaser, without a reason being given for the request. The hearing is now scheduled for Feb. 23.

Mr. Skelton is being held in jail on $30 million bond on three charges of parental kidnapping involving his three sons.

The boys - Andrew, Alexander, and Tanner, - were last seen on Thanksgiving Day. They were 9, 7, and 5 when they disappeared.

Mr. Skelton is the prime suspect in their disappearances and Morenci, Mich., Police Chief Larry Weeks has said that he believes the three boys are dead.

After Wednesday's hearing, Lenawee County Prosecutor Jonathan Poer said that the case is still under investigation, although he would not comment on whether additional charges will be brought against the Mr. Skelton.

Mr. Poer said he anticipates a trial on the parental kidnapping charges will be held this summer.

John Skelton, 39, is to appear in an Adrian courtroom on Wednesday, March 9, 2011. The 39-year-old Morenci resident has said he doesn't know the whereabouts of 9-year-old Andrew, 7-year-old Alexander and 5-year-old Tanner, who last were seen with him.

A pretrial hearing is set in the criminal case against a southern Michigan man whose three young sons have been missing since Thanksgiving.

Thirty-nine-year-old John Skelton is to appear in an Adrian courtroom today. The 39-year-old Morenci resident has said he doesn't know the whereabouts of 9-year-old Andrew, 7-year-old Alexander and 5-year-old Tanner, who last were seen with him.

He told authorities he gave the boys to a group called United Foster Outreach and another called Underground Sanctuaries, organizations authorities say they can't locate.

Police in Morenci, near the Ohio border, are treating the case as a homicide investigation.

Skelton is charged with kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment.

Defense lawyer John Glaser has said he needs time to review police evidence in the matter.

This was from Feb 23rd....

Prosecutors are wielding a bigger stick in the criminal case against a Morenci father charged in the Thanksgiving disappearance of his three sons.

Kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment counts have been added to the parental kidnapping counts filed against 39-year-old John Skelton in December. Skelton now faces a maximum of three life prison terms if convicted instead of a one-year sentence.

Skelton failed to return his sons, Andrew, 9, Alexander, 7, and Tanner, 5, to his wife, Tanya Skelton, after a Thanksgiving visit. The couple are divorcing. Skelton has claimed he turned the boys over to an “organization” for protection. Morenci Police Chief Larry Weeks has discounted the claim and announced Feb. 1 the focus of the investigation has changed from a missing persons case to homicide.

A hearing where the new charges against Skelton would have been addressed was adjourned Wednesday in Lenawee County Circuit Court at the request of public defender John Glaser.

Glaser said Wednesday he needed more time to go through additional reports submitted by Morenci police before meeting with Skelton to decide what steps to take next.

“I’ve gotten quite a lengthy supplemental police report,” Glaser said.

A decision could be reached before a rescheduled March 9 hearing date set by Judge Margaret M.S. Noe.

Glaser said it will be up to Skelton to decide if he wants to proceed with setting a trial date in circuit court. The other option is to remand the case back to district court for a preliminary examination where the prosecution would have to present evidence to support the new charges.

“He has a right to take it back to a preliminary examination process,” Glaser said.

Lenawee County Prosecutor Jonathan Poer agreed it is up to the defense at this point to decide how to proceed.

Poer declined to comment on what new information has come from the Morenci police investigation that convinced him to file more serious charges.

“They have submitted additional reports,” Poer said.

Language in the document charging Skelton with kidnapping the three boys states that he restrained each one “with the intent to take that person outside of this state.”

Poer said he cannot say where Skelton allegedly took them or what happened to them.

“It is an ongoing investigation,” Poer said.

Searches were conducted in several Ohio communities near Morenci when large groups of volunteers combed rural areas shortly after Thanksgiving for signs of the missing boys.

Father of missing Morenci boys in court
Wednesday, March 09, 2011

MORENCI, MI (WTVG) -- The father of the three missing Morenci brothers will return to Lenawee County district court.

John Skelton was in circuit court this morning for a pre-trial hearing.

Skelton was originally charged with three counts of parental kidnapping. Last month, additional kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment charges were added. There's no word on when Skelton will be arraigned on those charges.

His sons were last seen back on November 25.

The Skelton brothers reward auction is just around the corner. The event was set up to raise money for a reward fund. It will be held Saturday, March 19 at 6 p.m. in the Morenci area high school gymnasium.

To date, more than $10,000 has been put into the fund.

The court time was very brief this morning. He’ll be back at an unnamed date for arraignment on the new charges announced last month: kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment, three counts of each. (David Green/Stateline Observer)

We go to Morenci often and they still have the yellow ribbons tied to trees and posts in town. Ther are soooo many places for those little boys to be. There is vast farmland, barns, abandoned buildings, etc. There are just literally thousands of places to hide those boys. Everytime we go and we are walking in the fields I wonder where they are. I hope that with Spring approaching there will be much more activity outdoors and someone will finally find them and lay them to rest. There are so many hunters and fisherman in that area that I have faith that someone finds them. I prefer they be alive of course.

Two children have been discovered missing and an investigation shows they could have been missing already for more than a decade. Their adoptive parents are now under arrest.

On January 22, 2011 the El Paso County Sheriff's Office took a report of a suspicious incident involving the alleged disappearance of a child identified as Austin Bryant. Investigation into this matter revealed Austin was last seen sometime between 2003 and 2005.

Through interviews with other family members, detectives discovered there was a second child in the family who is also unaccounted for named Edward Bryant. No missing persons report has ever been filed with the Sheriff's Office or surrounding law enforcement agencies for these two children. WHY NOT??

Austin Eugene Bryant would be 15 years old. Austin is said to have disappeared as early as 2003 when he was 7 years old. Edward Dylan Bryant would be 18 years old now. Edward is believed to have gone missing as early as 2001 when he would have been 9 years old.

Austin and Edward are the adoptive children of 58-year-old Edward Bryant and 54-year-old Linda Bryant, of Texas. Deputies tell us the Bryants lived in a home located on Granite Circle in Monument from 1999 to 2005. Property records show they owned the home at 18060 Granite Circle from 1999 to 2006.

"I don't really remember them, but they seemed like shady people. Something just wasn't quite right," said one neighbor.

Linda and Edward Bryant have been contacted and arrested in Texas for receiving an ongoing financial subsidy from the El Paso County Department of Human Services despite the fact Austin and Edward were not residing with them. They have been extradited to back to Colorado and are in custody at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.

We've been working with another station in Texas. Edward Bryant was apparently living in Denton. Neighbors told the station that he had three boys, but they didn't recognize the pictures of the two who are missing.

Edward Eugene Bryant has been charged with Felony Theft (2 counts), Conspiracy, Attempt to Influence a Public Official (19 counts), Offering a False Instrument for Recording (19 counts), Forgery (19 counts). Bond has been set at $1 million.

Linda Kay Bryant has been charged with Felony Theft (2 counts),
Conspiracy, Attempt to Influence a Public Official (46 counts),
Offering a False Instrument for Recording (46 counts), Forgery (46 counts). Bond has been set at $1 million.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office will be conducting a neighborhood canvass and following other investigative leads to try to determine more details surrounding the disappearance of these children.

If anyone has information regarding Austin Bryant or Edward Bryant, please contact the El Paso County Sheriff's Office at 719-390-5555
