Why is this an NAACP issue?

4 Georgia Prisons On Lockdown

ATLANTA, Ga. -- Georgia corrections officials say four prisons have been locked down for security reasons.

Activists say inmates at 11 prisons across the state have been on a peaceful strike seeking better work and living conditions.

The NAACP is urging the federal Bureau of Prisons to investigate the treatment of prisoners during the strike. Georgia NAACP chairman Edward DuBose said prisoners refused to leave their cells and perform their jobs.

Corrections spokeswoman Kristen Stancil said Monday there have been no major incidents at the four facilities that were locked down. She says they will remain that way until an internal investigation and a security review are completed.

This pissed me TF off. I see why people get pissy attitudes towards some segments of the population in the South. Pieces of shit want better living conditions because they are fucking criminals? Jesus Christ. My blood pressure went up when I read this.

Fuck off, NAACP. Let's get better conditions for homeless people and the elderly and let your law-breaking brothers tough it out in the pen.

But why is this an NAACP issue? National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. What the hell does it have to do with prisoners? Is it an organization for criminals now?

It just flew all over me. If the NAACP wants to be associated with criminals, that's their business. That they would choose this cause when so many law-abiding people of color in the South need advocacy is very telling.

From the NAACP site, their take on Climate Change:

"When folks think about climate change, the first things some people think of are melting ice caps and suffering polar bears. However, many fail to make the connection in terms of the direct impact on our own lives, families, and communities.

Climate Change is about Katrina, Rita, and Ike devastating communities in Mississippi, Louisiana, Florida, and Texas, Climate Change is about our sisters and brothers in the Bahamas who will be losing their homes to rising sea levels in the coming few years. Climate Change is about people in Detroit, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and elsewhere who have died and are dying of exposure to toxins from coal fired power plants.

Climate Change is about sisters and brothers in West Virginia who are breathing toxic ash from blasting for mountain top removal. Climate Change is about our folks in Thibodeaux, Louisiana who are being forced to move within the next 10 years because rising sea levels will result in the submersion of the coastal land that is their home currently.

It's about the fact that race--over class--is the number one indicator for the placement of toxic facilities in this country. Climate change is about the fact that in our communities it is far easier to find a bag of Cheetos than a carton of strawberries.

Climate Change is about us.
"

hahahahahaha

Did you know race causes climate change? And did you know toxic facilities have something to do with climate change? I didn't.

This is a stupid organization. Sorry, but it is.

By taking on this issue, the NAACP is saying prisons are for black Americans. They should have thought this one out a little better. Maybe advocate for kids BEFORE they get to prison.

NAACP on Healthcare:

"The NAACP is committed to eliminating the racial and ethnic disparities in our health care system that plague people of color in the United States. African Americans continue to have the highest incidence, prevalence and mortality rates from chronic diseases like cardiovascular disease, diabetes and obesity. Additionally issues like HIV and infant mortality have continued to overwhelm the Black community. Systemic imbalances in the health care delivery system disproportionately affect African Americans and Latinas more than their White counterparts."

Holy shit. You can't make this stuff up. Again, from their site.

Did you know it's whitey's fault that HIV, obesity, heart disease, and diabetes overwhelm the black community? It can't be from all that fried food and fucking.

This organization seems like a racist organization to me. It doesn't help to divide people by skin colors. Blaming another race for your own problems isn't a solution. I can't believe this. I hope none of my friends are secretly blaming me because they are chunky.

Just by capitalizing the words "black" and "white", they are making a statement.

There are "black" areas in the South and "white" areas, but not as much now. Many neighborhoods are diverse. Most do fine unless the poorer minorities move in. I don't think our racial problems have as much to do with color as they do with poverty and lack of education. If you want to have problems, build an apartment complex. Then the poor folks, of all colors, move in and the crime rate rises.

I'm disgusted with the NAACP and what they stand for. I am offended. Barring crosses and lynchings, they are almost as bad as the white trash in the pointy hats.

You stole my reply. hah Did you see that on 2020 about 10 years ago. John Stossel did a show about inmates suing for crazy shit. The Peanut Butter case always stuck in my mind. With the free college education
and getting smooth instead of crunchy....prison doesn't seem like such a bad gig.

NAACP slogan:

We're there for you when even your baby mama quits taking your calls!

The NAACP hit my radar when they raised hell about witnesses to the beating death in Georgia a few months ago being held on a bus to be questioned. There were over 50 kids at the party. The NAACP didn't bitch that 50 kids didn't stop the beating death of one of their own, only that they were held to be questioned for a few hours. They are a bullshit organization.

They need an organization like that because so many of them are just too fuckin' stupid to help themselves. Hell, six out of every ten can't even speak English in the proper fashion.

SANTA ANA ( KTLA) -- A prison inmate in Orange County claimed the fictitious holiday Festivus, created on "Seinfeld," as part of his religion in an attempt to get better meals, and it actually worked.

Convicted drug dealer, Malcolm Alarmo King, didn't like the salami meals served at the Orange County jail, so he used his devotion to Festivus as an excuse to get kosher meals.

The judge, apparently not a "Seinfeld" fan, bought into his religious demands, which included double helpings of salami-free meals.

Sheriff's Commander Dave Wilson says some people at the station eventually realized King's claim "probably wasn't legitimate."

After about two months of kosher meals, the county got the order thrown out in court.

Festivus, as depicted on the TV show, included the airing of grievances and the display of an aluminum pole.

The title of this thread needs to be revised. NAACP needs to change its' name, it's out of date. It now needs to be: NAAAA-
National Association for the Advancement of African Americans.
