Shamed football great OJ Simpson was beaten unconscious in a racially motivated prison attack, according to a report today.

A skinhead inmate is said to have kicked and punched Simpson to ‘a bloody pulp’ after allegedly overhearing him bragging about his sexual conquests of white women.

The 63-year-old disgraced athlete spent three weeks in hospital recovering from his injuries, said the National Enquirer.

Prison authorities dismissed the claims of the assault at at Nevada’s Lovelock Correctional Centre, where Simpson is serving a nine-year sentence for his role in an armed confrontation with memorabilia dealers in Las Vegas.

But the tabloid that won plaudits for its coverage of the Simpson murder trial that ended in his 1995 acquittal for murdering his wife, Nicole, stands by its story.

Bruce Fromong, Simpson’s former business partner, told the magazine that ‘The Juice’ was boasting about his success with white girlfriends while behind bars.

‘Unfortunately for OJ, a group of young skinhead punks were within earshot and they were enraged,’ Fromong said in an exclusive interview.

‘They waited for a day when he would be in the exercise yard without his usual posse of black prisoners. OJ was completely unprotected when one of the toughest of the skinheads - who's in his mid-20s - jumped him.

‘The skinhead rained blows on OJ’s head, shoulders and upper body - and continued to punch him savagely after he fell unconscious to the ground. He was covered in blood from deep cuts on his face,’ he added.

Fromong was one of the memorabilia dealers Simpson robbed at gunpoint, but the former friends declared ‘no hard feelings’ during Simpson's Las Vegas trial and they have been in contact since the ex-sportsman's 2007 conviction.

‘He's fallen into a deep depression. He spends most of his time confined to his cell, refusing to venture out unless he's surrounded by a posse of inmates he pays for protection. He’s fearful he’ll never leave prison alive,’ added Fromong. 3421

Simpson is said to have trouble getting around with arthritic and bad knees as a result of the hard hits he suffered during his football career.

He was reportedly cheered up at the end of last month with a visit from his daughter, Sydney, 25, who hadn’t been to the prison before.

The National Enquirer article

Disgraced gridiron great O.J. SIMPSON was beaten unconscious in a brutal prison yard attack, The ENQUIRER has learned exclusively.

Inmates cheered as a muscular young skinhead knocked him to the ground, punching and kicking him to a bloody pulp and inflicting injuries so severe he secretly spent nearly three weeks in the infirmary before he recovered.

The humiliating beating left 63-year-old Simpson in agony - and threw him into a spiral of depression so deep that he's now afraid to venture out of his cell, divulge sources.

Embarrassed by the fact that their most famous inmate was battered while in their custody, prison authorities have done their best to keep the incident secret.

But The ENQUIRER has obtained the full, shocking details of the vicious pounding.

The battle erupted at Nevada's Lovelock Correctional Center, where Simpson is serving at least nine years for his role in an armed confrontation with sports memorabilia dealers in Las Vegas in September 2007.

Unknown to the former NFL star, The Juice has been a marked man behind bars ever since white supremacists overheard him brag about his sexual conquests of beautiful white women.

"Unfortunately for O.J., a group of young skinhead punks were within earshot - and they were enraged," Simpson's former business partner Bruce Fromong told The ENQUIRER in an exclusive interview.

"They waited for a day when he would be in the exercise yard without his usual posse of black prisoners.

"O.J. was completely unprotected when one of the toughest of the skinheads - who's in his mid-20s - jumped him."

The ex-athlete suffers from arthritis and gimpy knees, which have left him with very little mobility. The attacker was much stronger and threw all his force into the brutal ambush, according to Fromong.

"The skinhead rained blows on O.J.'s head, shoulders and upper body - and continued to punch him savagely after he fell unconscious to the ground. He was covered in blood from deep cuts on his face."

The merciless beating, which happened several months ago, continued as guards rushed to the scene to aid Simpson.

"O.J. ended up spending more than two-and-a-half weeks in the prison infirmary," the source told The ENQUIRER.

O.J. Laughs Off False Prison Beatdown Report

2/16/2011 12:05 AM PST by TMZ Staff

Not only is it completely untrue that O.J. Simpson got his ass handed to him in a bloody prison fight recently -- we're told it's SO untrue that when the Juice finally got wind of it ... he couldn't stop laughing.

One should be depressed when incarcerated. This isn't a trip to the Magic Kingdom.

I can't help but think of this Naked Gun exchange after reading about OJ's alleged beat-down:

Mrs. Nordberg: Oh, my poor Nordberg! He was such a good man, Frank. He never wanted to hurt anyone. Who would do such a thing?

Frank: It's hard to tell. A gang of thugs, a blackmailer, an angry husband, a gay lover...

Remember . . . OJ played Nordberg.

Nordberg? Is that Jewish?

Maybe it wasn't a racial beat-down, after all.

LOL, I love that movie! I despise OJ. Everytime I really think about how Nicole Brown & Ron Goldman were killed, it makes me so angry, this POS got away with it. I wish someone would kick his ass, in prison!

what a crock of shit! BullshitBullshitBullshit

A Texas private investigator claims he knows who really killed Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman in 1994. And it wasn't OJ Simpson.

In a new book, 'OJ is Innocent and I Can Prove It,' William C. Dear alleges Simpson went on trial, and was acquitted of murder, in an effort to deflect attention from the true killer: His son Jason.

Dear says Simpson was at the crime scene -- but not until after his ex-wife and her friend had been stabbed to death.

After a 17-year investigation, Dear says he has found circumstantial evidence that links Jason Simpson, 41, to the murders.

The private eye claims he dug through Jason Simpson's garbage and his abandoned storage locker in search of new evidence, the New York Post reported.

In the search, Dear says he found a hunting knife that forensic experts say is the murder weapon that was never recovered during the police investigation.

He also found photographs of Jason Simpson wearing a knit cap, similar to one that was discovered at the crime scene. WOW! hah

Associated Press

LAS VEGAS — A new lawyer for O.J. Simpson filed a new attempt Tuesday to gain his release from Nevada state prison, alleging the former football star was so badly represented by lawyers in his trial and previous appeals that he deserves a new trial.

A 94-page document filed Tuesday in Clark County District Court in Las Vegas faults the trial strategy and performance of attorneys Yale Galanter of Miami and Gabriel Grasso of Las Vegas, but maintains Simpson’s same basic defense. It says the NFL Hall of Famer wanted to recover from sports memorabilia dealers family photos and personal mementoes stolen from him after his 1995 acquittal in the Los Angeles slayings of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman.

Simpson was convicted in 2008 in Las Vegas of charges including kidnapping and armed robbery in a caper in a casino hotel room crammed with two memorabilia dealers and a middle man, Simpson and five other later convicted of felonies.

Simpson, 64, was sentenced in December 2008 to nine to 33 years behind bars. He is the only one in the case still in prison.

Tuesday’s filing, called a writ of habeas corpus, is a common next-step appeals strategy to blame trial and initial appeals attorneys for a defendant’s conviction. If state courts deny it, it can be appealed to federal courts.

Almost all of the 22 grounds that attorney Patricia Palm of Las Vegas cited in the document fault Galanter and Grasso. Palm is due to argue the case July 3 in Clark County District Court in Las Vegas.

The first claim is that Galanter had a conflict of interest so severe he should have removed himself from the case. It does not raise a similar contention against Grasso.

Galanter declined comment Tuesday, saying he wanted to read the complete document and supporting appendices.

Grasso said he hadn’t read the document, but “I’m behind O.J. and I hope this petition helps him get out of prison.”

Simpson’s current private lawyer, Malcolm LaVergne, declined comment Tuesday.

Galanter was Simpson’s lawyer before the Las Vegas incident, and the document alleges he knew ahead of time and helped plan Simpson’s effort to retrieve his possessions. The two men even had dinner together at a casino restaurant the night before, the document states.

Galanter told a trial judge he “wasn’t there” and “had nothing to do with” the confrontation. Galantar advised Simpson the plan was “legally permissible so long as there would be no trespass and no physical force used,” the new court filing said.

Simpson, meanwhile, had been drinking alcohol in the hours prior to the confrontation and had no idea anyone brought guns to the cramped room at the Palace Station casino-hotel, the document said.

“To this day, Simpson does not know whether there were actually guns pulled or displayed in the room,” the document said. “Even after Simpson was arrested, Galanter repeatedly advised Simpson that the state could not prove its case, given the evidence that he intended to reclaim his own property.”

Galanter and Grasso parted in 2009.

Galanter lost an appeal for Simpson’s freedom to the Nevada Supreme Court that included oral arguments in June 2010. Galanter wasn’t part of a failed attempt by LaVergne to get a hearing before the entire seven-member court.
