Representatives from one of the most recognized advocate groups for missing children are on their way to Colorado City to assist in the search for missing 13-year-old Hailey Dunn.

Brad Dennis, the Director of Search Operations for KlaasKIDS Foundation’s National Search Center for Missing Children, says he'll meet with Hailey's mother, Billie Dunn, to help determine how his group can be help find Hailey.

The KlaasKids Foundation was established in 1994 in an effort to help protect children. The group's founder, Marc Klaas, is the father of murder victim Polly Hannah Klaas. He's regularly appears on the Nancy Grace show to discuss Hailey's case.

Dennis tells KTAB News a decision on how his group will assist will likely be made Tuesday. He says they'll probably help manage the volunteer search efforts.

Dennis has over twenty years of experience in search and rescue and disaster response, according to klaaskids.org. He has managed search efforts for over 60 missing/abducted children around the country.

Texas Equusearch, who originally told KTAB News they expected to be involved in the search, has not returned phone calls for nearly a week.


Officials now say the information that leads to Hailey's safe return is $15,000.

COLORADO CITY, Texas -- Colorado City will add two police officers to their force to help search for missing teen Hailey Dunn.

KTXS News has talked with Pete Kampfer, the city manager of Colorado City, says ads will go out today to advertise hiring two new officers.

Three weeks in to the search for the missing eighth-grader, Kampfer says many of the people who have volunteered to search have had to go back to their normal lives, but efforts need to continue to find Hailey.

In other developments, Brad Dennis, the director of search operations for KlaasKids, an organization that searches for missing kids, says he's organizing a search party that will be headquartered at the Abilene Civic Center on Wednesday.

Colorado City, TX - KTAB News has obtained 911 calls made in February 2010 related to a domestic dispute during which, according to police affidavits, Shawn Adkins allegedly threatened to kill 13-year-old Hailey Dunn and her mother.
Adkins is the boyfriend of Hailey’s mother, Billie Dunn, and the only confirmed suspect in the girl’s disappearance. According to police, Adkins was the last person to see Hailey on December 27: the day she went missing.

According to search warrant affidavits filed after Hailey's disappearance, Adkins admitted to investigators that he threatened the lives of both Billie and Hailey during a domestic dispute.

The three 911 calls, obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, refer to threats made against Billie and her estranged husband, Clint, but not against Hailey.

In the first call, made to Colorado City police at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 14, Billie Dunn told a dispatcher that she was at work in Snyder and feared Adkins was going to enter her home and take something.

Dunn: “My boyfriend and I just broke up yesterday, but he’s saying that he’s going to go in my house and get his t-shirt and I don’t want him in there while I’m gone because I don’t know what he’ll take. I don’t trust him enough to go in there."

Dunn went on to tell dispatchers that she feared Adkins could take a television or her son’s X-Box. Dunn also revealed that she rarely locked the windows or doors.

The dispatcher told Dunn that it was not possible for an officer to stand by her house all day, but said she would inform police.

Three and a half hours later, Dunn made a second call to 911 claiming Adkins threatened her life.

Dunn: “I broke up with this guy a couple days ago and he’s a little ‘MHMR.' (mental health/mental retardation). He’s telling me that he’s going to kill me and my ex-husband. And it’s going to be remembered for a long time.”

Dunn said Adkins made the repeated threats via text message.

“I texted back just to try and calm him down a little, but he said it’s going to happen.”

In a second portion of the call released to KTAB News, the dispatcher is heard telling the officer that it was Dunn making the request for assistance.

“(She has) been going all day,” the officer replied.

The third call was made from a Snyder police officer to Colorado City police around 4:30 p.m. on the same day, informing dispatchers that he had received a call from Adkins.

Officer: “We got a call over here from her boyfriend say that she’s possible suicidal, threatening to take a bunch of pills."

Dispatcher: “We’ve been having a big problem with those two all day.”

The affidavits signed on Jan. 7 say Adkins originally told authorities that he never threatened Hailey during the dispute, but that he then admitting to threaten the lives of both Hailey and Billie.

Kampfer said there have been no leads that indicate Hailey Dunn could be found in the lake and to drag it would be expensive. oh great.

COLORADO CITY, Texas -- About 50-55 people are combing areas near Colorado City, searching for missing teen Hailey Dunn, and, for the first time, in a search coordinated with law enforcement.

The groups of people are searching areas at the request of law enforcement authorities who are also following their leads.

The volunteers responded after both KlaasKids and the Laura Recovery Project arrived Tuesday to help coordinate volunteer searches. KlaasKids and the Laura Recovery Project are national organizations that help organize searches for missing children.

After a briefing at the Colorado City Civic Center, the volunteers split into two smaller groups to begin an organized grid search.

KTXS News has learned that Mark Klaas, the leader of his organization, will arrive in Colorado City this evening.

Volunteers are being asked to meet daily at the Colorado City Civic Center to join the search. Whenever 10 or more volunteers gather, they'll be sent out as part of the coordinated search, officials said.

The earliest search parties will be sent beginning at 9 a.m. Other search parties will be put together as volunteers gather throughout the day.



COLORADO CITY, Texas -- The parents of missing Colorado City teenager Hailey Dunn have not given hope. Far from it.

Hailey's mother, Billie Dunn, said Wednesday there's one primary message she wants out: "We're looking for a living, breathing little girl. We're not looking for a corpse."

She made this statement through a spokesperson, a family friend who answered the door at her house in Colorado City. Billie Dunn has not spoken directly with KTXS since KTXS first released the law enforcement affidavits last week.

Clint Dunn, Hailey's father, also said he was not giving up hope. He met with volunteer searchers at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the bridge in the community of Dunn where a make-shift memorial has sprung up on the railings along the bridge.

The railing contains dozens and dozens of stuffed animals attached to the railings.

Clint Dunn thanked the volunteers in a brief emotional moment of prayer and encouragement. The search volunteers call themselves "Hailey's Angels."

Clint Dunn later said he is meeting with a private investigator Wednesday, and also with a psychic, to pursue any possible new leads. He said that he would not be going out with search parties through fields because he wouldn't want to see his daughter that way.

COLORADO CITY, Texas -- KTXS learned Wednesday that Hailey Dunn's older brother, David,16, has been taken into temporary custody of the state's Department of Family and Protective Services.
(billie dunn denies this, says he is at her brother's at her own behest) Family Services will not confirm or deny they are involved for privacy reasons.
However, a spokeswoman did say there are instances when CPS is investigating a family that they ask the family to place a child voluntarily outside the home pending the outcome of that investigation.

Colorado City Manager Pete Kampfer said it is common practice to remove a child when a situation like this occurs, just to protect David.

COLORADO CITY, Texas -- Authorities confirmed to KTXS News that cadaver dogs from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice have arrived and will be searching the Colorado City landfill site Thursday afternoon for missing 13-year-old Hailey Dunn.

A worker at the landfill told KTXS that the FBI had notified landfill officials about the search. The dogs and their handlers came seven hours Thursday from Huntsville to reach Colorado City for the search.

Meanwhile, a frigid day Thursday decreased the number of volunteers searching for missing Colorado City 13-year-old Hailey Dunn.

unrelated. another Texas teen girl, just 100 miles from Hailey. tragic. some people were wondering if there was any connection to Hailey, but it appears not. i didn't think there was, no similarities in circumstances.

Lubbock police have confirmed that the body found Monday evening in Lubbock County is that of Elizabeth Ennen, the 15-year-old girl who disappeared on Jan. 5.

Police confirmed the identity using fingerprints.

The Monterrey High School student had been missing for more than two weeks when, on Saturday, the case took a stunning twist with the arrest of 45-year-old Humberto Salinas. Ennen was babysitting for Salinas on the evening of her disappearance. Police arrested him on an aggravated kidnapping charge. The Ennen family said it considered the Salinas family to be good friends.

According to affidavits, Salinas returned to the Carriage House by himself while Ennen was babysitting his children on January 5. At 11:47 p.m., Ennen was seen leaving the hotel room in a hurry. 5 minutes later, Salinas was caught on tape pulling her back inside the room.

Around midnight, police believe Salinas forced Ennen inside his vehicle before driving off. He returned to the hotel room 8 minutes later alone.

According to affidavits, Elizabeth's mother arrived at the hotel around 2:00 a.m. to seemingly check on her daughter's whereabouts. Police say she was seen running down a hotel hallway roughly 12 minutes later.

A financial grant was given to Hailey's mom, Billie Dunn. The money is to help cover this month's bills.

Billie Dunn hasn't been to work since her daughter vanished on December 27, 2010. Back at that time, she also had financial assistance from her live-in boyfriend Shawn Adkins. Adkins no longer stays at the home.

The grant was given by The Somer Thompson Foundation, an organization started by Diena Thompson after her 7-year-old daughter was abducted and murdered in 2009. The group gave Dunn the money so she can focus on her daughter, not how to pay bills.

Billie Dunn said there is another person that may lead investigators to her missing 13-year-old daughter. Hailey Dunn vanished on the afternoon of Monday, December 27, 2010. She hasn't been seen since.

Hailey's mom now says she thinks there is another person to be investigated.

"Investigators know about it but haven't questioned him. They can't find him. He did threaten to hurt me and Hailey and he hasn't been talked to and he hasn't been found," said Dunn.

From the first day her daughter turned up missing Billie Jean Dunn has been the focus of community support but also a target for criticism.

On the one-month anniversary since Hailey Dunn went missing, Billie invited CBS 7 to sit down with her for a one on one interview and discuss how she’s been coping.

Beau Berman: How are you feeling today?

Billie Jean Dunn: "I'm still trying to be optimistic but I just am very frustrated that we don't have the answers we need yet and somebody knows where my daughter is and it's just hard that I haven't seen Hailey in a month and I've never gone this long without seeing her".

Beau Berman: How frustrating was it to be a mom and your daughter's missing but also to hear those questions?

Billie Jean Dunn: "On top of Hailey missing have people saying horrible things and making horrible accusations and after I get Hailey home I'll deal with the slander and the defamation of character. I definitely will".

Beau Berman: Do you feel the law enforcement effort has gone far enough?

Billie Jean Dunn: "I wish they could have listened to me, trusted me from the beginning, trust that I know Hailey better than anybody. I wish that other agencies could have gotten involved sooner than they did".

Beau Berman: It's hard to imagine how difficult this is on you. Have you had difficulty sleeping at night?

Billie Jean Dunn: "Yeah. I do have lots of trouble sleeping. I wake up in the morning and the first thought in my head is that Hailey's not here. It's the worst nightmare you can imagine".

Beau Berman: Do you ever just stop and look at her pictures as you walk through the house?

Billie Jean Dunn: "Sometimes I stare at them all day long and other times I can't look at them at all."

Beau Berman: Once the Texas Rangers came in and everybody came in, do you feel the law enforcement effort was adequate and pretty strong?

Billie Jean Dunn: "I know they're looking for her and working endless days. I just wish we could get some answers quickly".

Beau Berman: Shawn was named a suspect a couple weeks ago. Have you talked to him recently?

Billie Jean Dunn: "Umm, we still talk some over the phone."

Beau Berman: What is his attitude like now? Is he reclusive because there are so many fingers pointing at him?

Billie Jean Dunn: "Not with me. He wanted to talk to some media. He has talked to law enforcement since and been able to explain his story again. Mostly he just tells me to try to keep that optimism and he's still praying and his family is still praying. He misses us, he loves us".

Beau Berman: Do you ever think back to December 27^th and kind of retrace through your mind and just think "what if"?

Billie Jean Dunn: "Yeah, all the time. I wish I wouldn't have gone to work that day. I wish I would have called her that night".

Beau Berman: So many what ifs?

Billie Jean Dunn: Yeah. I just decided as long as I can believe Hailey's alive and can come home safe, I'm going to’ believe that".

Law enforcement searched parts of Scurry County Thursday and according to Billie, members of the Klaas Kids Foundation are planning a return to Colorado City very soon to continue their search efforts.

Socks and hair were discovered during a search in Big Spring Friday morning.

Pete Kampfer, asshat who has been acting as spokesman for the investigation, confirmed Friday that the items were found and collected by the Big Spring Police Department.

The items were discovered by Hailey's Angels during a search of fields near Big Spring.

It's important to note there's no reason to connect these findings directly to the Hailey Dunn case. The socks will be tested.
