Julie Powers Schenecker ~Tampa mother kills teens for being "mouthy"
#21
Now, the father of the murdered teens is warning a sympathetic community to be on alert for criminals who may try to collect cash in his children's names.

The children will be remembered during a life celebration ceremony at the First Baptist Church in Temple Terrace at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Col. Parker Schenecker, who has been stationed in the Middle East, issued a statement regarding any online memorials or tributes asking for donations in order of his children:

"The Schenecker family continues to be comforted by the heartfelt outpouring of love and generosity in celebration of the lives of Calyx and Beau. The family wants to clearly announce, however, that they have not yet established any memorial websites or funds that are capable of receiving financial contributions."

Any such website which bears the Schenecker name is unauthorized, misleading, and merely an attempt to exploit this tragedy and deepen the sorrow of a community trying to heal."

yes, we saw that in the Zahra case...people trying to profit on a dead child. there will always be lowlife scumbags who do that.

FILTHY FUCKERS!

(CNN) -- A brother and sister allegedly killed by their mother will be remembered Wednesday evening during a memorial service in Tampa, Florida.

King High School, which Calyx Powers Schenecker, 16, attended, and Liberty Middle School, where Beau Powers Schenecker went, are sponsoring the 6 p.m. service at First Baptist Church of Temple Terrace, the church said.

The church can hold about 1,400 people, Josh Saliba, director of creative ministries, told CNN.

He would not comment on plans by Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas, to protest before the service.

The controversial church has made its name by picketing near funerals of people who died of AIDS, gay people and soldiers.

In a press release, Westboro said the mother is a military wife and "the doomed American military declared war on God & His church."

Julie Schenecker's husband, Parker, is a colonel in the U.S. Army. He is a member of U.S. Central Command. Police told CNN affiliate WFTS that he was in Qatar when his children were killed.

TAMPA -- BayNews9

The mother accused of killing her two teenage children pleaded not guilty in court Wednesday.

Amid extra security, Julie Schenecker formally heard the charges against her. Aided by a public defender, Schenecker entered a plea of not guilty.

According to Tampa Police, Schenecker shot and killed her children Calyx, 16, and Beau, 13.

Assistant Public Defender Robert Frasier says he intends to file a motion to freeze the family's assets until they can decide who will pay for her defense.

Investigators said the 50-year-old mother wrote a note describing her plans to shoot her children and herself before shooting the two teens on Jan. 27. Schenecker was booked into jail the same day her teens were found shot to death.

The Hillsborough County grand jury formally charged her with two counts of premeditated first-degree murder on Feb. 10. The charges could carry the death penalty if she is convicted.

Following the not guilty plea, a spokeswoman for Schenecker's husband, Col. Parker Schenecker, released the following statement:

Colonel Parker Schenecker is currently out of the state and was unable to attend Wednesday's arraignment for Julie Schenecker. Currently, he is meeting with family members and close friends to formalize his plans to honor the memory of Calyx and Beau. At the same time, he is considering the best path to help him heal from this tragedy.

Parker would like to thank everyone who has reached out to express their love for Calyx and Beau and who have shown support for his family during this difficult time. The generosity and love supporters have shown through letters, phone calls and donations to the Calyx and Beau Schenecker Memorial Fund has been humbling. Parker has finalized plans for the Fund's first donation: C. Leon King High School's Relay for Life benefitting the American Cancer Society. Calyx's school recently notified Parker that they will honor Calyx by retaining her as Captain of her Harry Potter-inspired "Wizarding Independence Day" team. This contribution is just the first step in keeping his promise to support those causes and activities his children found important.

TAMPA --
The Tampa woman accused of murdering her two teenage children has new representation.

Bay area lawyer Arnold Levine is now representing Julie Schenecker in the wrongful death civil lawsuit filed against her this week by her husband, Parker Schenecker.

According to Bay News 9's partner newspaper the St. Petersburg Times, Levine said he also will defend Schenecker's murder charges if a divorce judge awards her marital assets.

Still, several issues surrounding the case remain in limbo.

A $1.2 million estate, a requested $200,000 marital asset payment are among them. Also, officials must determine if Julie Schenecker's murder charges will result in the prosecution pursuing the dealth penalty.

The issues may start to be worked out at a May 20 hearing on the case.

Julie Schenecker, 50, is accused of shooting her 13-year-old son, Beau, and 16-year-old daughter, Calyx, each twice in the head on Jan. 27.
