MCSO arrest 2 men for alleged sex with animals
PHOENIX - Authorities say two Valley men have been arrested for using a popular Internet website to connect with people offering their dogs for sexual acts with humans.
The suspects, 47-year-old Keith D. Kiefer of Mesa and 25-year-old Patrick Stephen Trejo, of Phoenix were arrested late Thursday night.
The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said the arrests were made during an undercover sting, and the incidents were not related.
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said Trejo is a music teacher at Raul H. Castro Middle School in Phoenix. Kiefer is unemployed.
According to Arpaio, deputies became aware months ago that a number of people were using Craigslist to communicate with others who have an interest in felony criminal acts of bestiality.
An undercover investigation was launched in December.
The investigation indicated there’s secret language amongst Craiglist users in order to obscure their criminal plans, Arpaio said.
Arpaio said the two suspects agreed to meet the handler of a male shepherd mix in a local hotel room where the sex acts were to occur. Before the actual sex act occurred, the deputies took the suspects into custody.

The Richland County Dog Warden has charged a Shelby, Ohio, man for having sexual relations with his 3-year-old shepherd mix.
According to officials, Peter Bower was charged with two counts of animal cruelty for having sexual relations with three dogs and possibly one horse.
"The tip was allegations about bestiality, sexual conduct with an animal," said Richland County Dog Warden Dave Jordan.
Investigators executed a search warrant at Bower's apartment where they seized the 3-year-old shepherd mix and his computer. On the computer, pictures and stories of his sexual relations with his animals.
They also found a bestiality book, "Dearest Pet," along with signs that read 'Pets Welcomed' and a plastic, blow-up sheep.
Cops say Bower advertised dog walking and sitting services around town and at the Mansfield dog shelter.
Bower only facing misdemeanor charges. Investigators said that they would like to charge Bower with more serious offenses but Ohio has no laws regarding bestiality.
PHOENIX -- A former Phoenix music teacher has been sentenced to one year of supervised probation after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor count of conspiracy to commit bestiality.
Patrick Stephen Trejo, 25, was sentenced Wednesday in Maricopa County Superior Court.
The court said Trejo is in the process of completing court-ordered counseling and a class on dangerous behaviors. His probation bans him from possessing animals.
Trejo and Keith Kiefer, a Mesa handyman, were arrested last February during an undercover investigation by the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office. Authorities accused the two of using special code language to connect through Craigslist with other people interested in bestiality.
The two were arrested after they arranged to meet an undercover sheriff's canine deputy and his dog at a hotel.
Kiefer was sentenced in June to two years of supervised probation.
Trejo was a music teacher at Raul H. Castro Middle School in Phoenix when he was arrested.
