Err, no, no they weren't..

Technically, "Blue Sky Mine" was released in 1990.

Don't know if it broke the top 100.

You know it doesn't make any sense to do it all over again...and again. And then again. What the fuck have I become?

My guess:

Caught in the endless circle; amusingly frustrated by us irreverent bitches?

Magic 8 Balls says: "Outlook Good".

Okay. On my playlist, they were. I don't remember ever hearing different music from them on my radio.

HotD, MS, Tiki, Rams, Duchess, Maggot...give me some fucking help here. What other (HIT) songs did this group have in the US?

Please tell me I don't have some dementia going on.

I like you too much to roll my eyes at 1990..

But anyway..The Dead Heart made it to 50 odd on the billboard 100 in 1987-ish, if I remember correctly.

Consider yourself lucky, dementia is waaaaay better than nipple hair.

It made into the top ten here, pretty sure it didn't make it to #1, but I may be wrong..

It was a real fucking 'Define irony' tune...I mean, it was a song about the plight of the Aboriginal people, sung by a white band poking shit at the white folk who stole their country, purchased and sung freely in public by said white folk..

In your terms it would be something like a song about Magic Johnson, written and performed by Donald Sterling, being paid for and sung by the clippers in the locker room..

I'm sure we'll all be dealing with both, eventually.

The dementia will make us forget about the nipple hair. Sounds like a win/win to me.

I didn't even know that kind of thing happened! What other godawful stuff are they keeping from us? No. No. No. Don't tell me. I changed my mind. In this particular case ignorance is bliss.

I was DJ'ing in the service from 1985 to 1991 and I'm familiar with only one Midnight Oil song that was popular stateside: Beds Are Burning.

FQ- to me they fit the 1-hit Wonder definition in the U.S.

Oh please..

Somebody that makes one album, with one hit single, or even worse, just a hit single and are never heard from again are a one hit wonder. A band that has hits all over the world, releases a multitude of albums and tours the world multiple times cannot be considered a one hit wonder just because it fits in the confines of a few peoples narrow minds..

I'm not sure it comes down to a narrow mind situation...more like an "I don't give a fuck one way or the other". When I think of 1 hit wonders I think of Casey Kasem doing the American top 40.

If I was as anal about this thread as you are, then I could correct more than one of you for thinking 'My Sharona' was a hit in the eighties.

Brainworm! Ugh. The moment I read it, it began to play in my head and now it's on a loop.

You could.

But you'd be wrong. Whilst it was released in 1979, it stayed in the billboard charts into 1980..

That's what I was thinking when I started this thread: Top 40 radio.

Specifically: U.S. Top 40 radio.

This shouldn't be so dixisive.

Maggot wormed me when we were kicking our underwear up in the air yesterday morning.

I've had the theme song to "Hong Kong Phooey" stuck in my head ever since.

It was Mr. Phooey's one and only hit -- by anybody's definition of "hit" -- but a wonderful one it is...

When I think of top-40 I think of pop, that's probably why I don't recognize some of these tunes.

I don't recognize that one either :(

I don't live in a bubble or under a rock.
