I asked for split peas but black eyed is what I got. How bout an onion cut in half? C'mon help me out here.

get some celery, onions, carrots and put them in with the hambone. soak the beans overnight. drain them. any dried beans are good. let all that simmer for hours. homemade soup is a meal!
i do greens (kale) and linguica too.

i like grits. i grew up on grits. cook some grits and some fried eggs and mush the runny eggs into the grits. YUMMY!

I can't get into the runny eggs, but I love grits. Except when people put sugar in them, gross.

As far as I know, I've never tried hominy, grits or blackeyed peas. There are no black restaurants where I live although we can get great Mexican food.

I'm not so hot on black eyed peas but will give them a whirl Monday.
