No, but I can't eat a bowl of Lucky Charms without shedding a tear and weeping on the inside, just a little. (Of course, I place my spoon in my left hand...)
Damn stars, moons and clovers.

I'd get a gold star for trying.

It never took.
I'll now shed a tear and move on from this thread. . .
We must be about the same age!! My first grade teacher also 'corrected' any attempts to write with a left hand. I understand that 'practice' has been abandoned for quite a while now, fortunately. I'm a bit ambidextrous, but I mostly write with my right hand and never did learn to have 'pretty' handwriting. I attribute it to being taught to write with the wrong hand.

That paragraph would be really confusing if read out loud. =p ::dlaugh::

Dammit... I should have read further before posting. ::bang::

If anyone hasn't seen this movie yet GET YOUR ASS TO THE THEATER!!!

This is the absolute Star Trek yet and make sure your theater has the surround sound ON and blaring!

I want to see it again and I never go to a movie twice - this one leaves room for MORE ST movies in the future too.

The cast was PERFECT and so was the "time travel" story line. It made it all believable and connected every ST movie without have any of those "that makes no sense because in ST (whatever) it didn't.....".

Watch out for the 'nods' from characters referencing the original. Mannerisms, quotes, sayings everything. Don't freakin' blink!

I think they repeated the opening scene too. For some reason I got it in my head that Kirk was being chased by the cops down a long dirt road in Iowa in a stolen car in one of the original movies. If anyone remembers it to be correct and what movie, help me out here. I don't want to rent them all to check my memory!!

I can't wait for the next one.

I've seen it, it is a very a very good sci-fi film film but it is star trek in name only.

Its almost as if the makers and stars have no prior knowledge of the star trek universe they are literally making it up as they go along. The new actors do not resemble the old characters in any way, shape or form, they look nothing like them physically and their personalities are completely different.

So,good sci fi film?, yes, star trek?, no.

Did we even watch the same movie from your description?!

Have you watched the original TV series BTW? Your commentary sounds like someone who never really watched the original series but for an episode or two.

The characters were excellent IMO. If they made Kirk imitate the way Shatner spoke the lines it would have ruined the movie. Would have turned it all into a hokey joke.

But I saw it all well put together and I would say only Scotty was a little more 'animated' toward the comical side than any others.

The Spock / Uhura love affair I did question. Still do because I don't recall any such insinuation ever.

Yes.

I have seen every episode of the original series at least twice, I have also seen every one of thefilms at least twice.

If Spock in the new film didn't have pointy ears I would never have known it was spock the character was completely different. All the actors were instructed not to do any research and to not base any aspect of their performance on the original characters, this is a J.J.Abrams sci fi film the use of the word Star Trek is purely incidental.

This film doesn't look, feel or sound anything like Star trek, its a very good sci fi film but it isn't Star trek.
