Harmony...

The lasting impression I am left with is the song is a complete construct by a white guy and a black guy who sang about 'harmony and togetherness', but never met or sat down together to sing it. Its a complete studio fabrication much like race relations one cannot tell what is real and what is being faked. The message is "we can all get along as long as we can fake it or photoshop it".

Written by McCartney alone, the song was performed live in the studio by both McCartney and Wonder, though both recorded their parts for the song's music video separately.......Critical reception; Following the song's huge chart success, it was derided as "saccharine" and was later named as the tenth worst song of all time by Blender magazine.[8] On October 2007, it was named the worst duet in history by BBC 6 Music listeners.[9] (In September 2010, Matthew Wilkening of AOL Radio ranked the song at #9 on the list of the 100 Worst Songs Ever,

Smartass! I do my own landscaping.

You know, HotD, you always present your 'takes' so thoughtfully, and respectfully, that nobody could ever hold a grudge with you.

I'd argue THAT little point to death with you. I've experienced her thoughtfulness and respect in other situations and have watched people band together to stomp her into the ground. Simply because they couldn't understand that WYSIWYG.

Long after the fact too.

Something I like about this board is that the strength of it is coming from everyone being on their own here. It's different, and refreshing.

I just threw the video in the thread for a laugh. Didn't know the background, Zero. Interesting stuff, but not surprising. Marketing. Never cared much for the song myself. But, there's a lot of old Stevie Wonder that I really love. Songs in the Key of Life is an album that I still throw on from time to time.

Are you brash and bold and offensive at times? Sure.

I like your stance when talking about this country's minorities. Mostly sucking the life out of our nation, with very few positive contributions. Not all ethnicities, but most.

Here in the Twin Cities we now have Hmong, Mexican and Somali gangs to go along with our traditional Black gangs. What joy. How did this come to be you ask?

Liberal loving Minnesotans wanted to invite all these losers to join us about 20 years ago. Well, the chickens are coming home to roost.

Anyway, I'd rather listen to you than all the Left-Coasters who defend these people day after day.

You articulated this better than I could as to the main reason I like Cracker. The bullshit, ass kissing, bandwagon statements about why I like her are childish at best. Cracker states the truth. And she backs it up with facts, repeatedly.

Anybody who wants to argue Cracker's specific statements related to her experiences with minorities, whether in her personal or professional life, is speaking out of ignorance.

Live in Southeast TX, where I was born and raised and watch a town of 70,000, where both of my parents graduated from HS, turn into the biggest shithole, based solely on the fact that the town is now 90% minority, which has occured over several decades, as the white community has moved out to surrounding areas. What is the explanation for a once bustling, thriving city to now be a war zone with beautiful, historical homes turned into crack houses?

If you haven't lived in the thick of it, you're arguing a point you don't have enough knowledge about. And believe me, I've seen white people here in Maine that contribute just as little to society as the minorities I'm referencing in TX. And, there are members of every ethnic group who have lived life in a civilized manner and worked their asses off to have the things they want in life.

I love it that Cracker says out loud the things I've wanted to say for a lot of years. And, if that constitutes not marching to the beat of my own drummer, that's somebody else's idiotic analysis.

Good post, MWS!

Nothing like a little blatant ignorant racism to spice up a rather dull rainy morning. btw I speak from experience since I went to public school in the 60's in Boston when forced integration occurred.

You'd like Vermont. Second whitest state in America.

Any reason in particular you decided to move out of the de-segregated area?

Don't short-change yourself, Ma. If you love 'em so much, move to a place where you can throroughly enjoy 'em.

Childish? Sure.

My point is, people that extoll the virtues of all these miniorties/refugees are rarely living among them.

I find that fascinating.

Is that important to you, specifically?

Remember, I'm Mr. Insightful. My talent is understanding and 'reading' people. I 'get' someone's true nature when they speak/post.

Yes, it is important to me. You made a statement & now I want to see you back up your claim.

You're about as fuckin' insightful as the plant I just watered. You don't have a clue.

I had no say in the matter, but I didn't want to move. All my best friends were black back then.

Better watch yourself, Ma, or you'll end up being Duchess' next Lap-Dog.

She used to do it with CN, but he grew a set, and didn't need her to defend him all the time.

Congratulations on your promotion!!

I'd say it's been at least 6 months since I pulled the 'lap-dog' card.

I calls 'em as I sees 'em.
