I think the Department of Justice using Centers for Disease Control data provides fairly accurate statistics, don't you?

In case you aren't interested in reading, here are some of the highlights:

* Firearm violence has decreased 39% since 1993
* Non-fatal firearm crime has declined 69% since 1993

1. Were convicted of a crime punishable by being in prison for more than one year;
2. Are a fugitive from justice;
3. Are addicted to, or illegally use, any controlled substance;
4. Have been ruled mentally defective by a court, or are committed to a mental institution;
5. Are an illegal alien living in the United States unlawfully;
6. Received a dishonorable discharge from the U.S. Armed Forces;
7. Renounced your U.S. citizenship, if you are a U.S. citizen;
8. Are subject to a court restraining order that involves your 'intimate partner,' your partner's child, or children; or
9. Were convicted of domestic violence in any court of a misdemeanor.

Gun crime is UP in Indiana, Arkansas, North Carolina and Louisiana and several other smaller states.

There are around 550 murders in the UK every year there were 12,226 murders in the US in 2011. And before you wheel out the old chestnut America has a larger population so of course will have more murders. The US population is FIVE times bigger than the UKs the US murder rate is TWENTY TWO times higher than the UK.

Over 8 and a half thousand of the 12 thousand US murders were done with a firearm.

Having a policy of “I'm skeered! Bang! You're dead!” Will create a lot more Zimmermans.

Killings by CCW owners are something under 1% of the firearms murders. The vast majority of handgun murders are committed by people that are in no way entitled to own one, they broke Many laws just picking the thing up. A few more laws are Not going to make that go away, if you haven't clicked to it yet, criminals don't pay a lot of attention to laws.
